Freakshow is Oct 21-24th in KINSTON NC, I have all the info in the thread in the southeast fourms if you wana know more

Yup the undercarriage frame is just a start Im gona add 2 more cross members and 2 more mounts coming off the Crash bar so that the frame can take a good impact(maybe even an unseen manhole) But Its Also going to stay removable because it actually holds the car up about an inch. Im also welding some 1/4" plate over the whole thing with a few places that I can "screw" in a couple of dragblocks

as for the streetfire kit Its a little lower than Bomex, you can probably make one but its gona hold you up quite a bit, the streetfire can take alot more abuse being urethane too dont forget that.

Just a few more pics from this past weekend:

ok you said the undercarrige frame is removeable, but when i look at where it connects to the car, i see a bunch of bubble gum ( dont forget chazz, i weld, so take it with a grain of salt lol), i dont see bolts or anything, explain how ur gunna remove it? cuz grinding welds and rewelding everytime will get old lol

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Nick, its taped shut so they can take off the fenders and stock hinges to put the lambo hinges on and the door stays perfectly aligned.

If you look a little closer you will see what looks to be U shaped stock that is welded to the frame that the square stock slide into and is bolted there with 2 bolts at each mounting point...

Ok yea I wont lie My welds aren't the prettiest , esp with a non-self darkening mask, Upside down, Under my car, with stainless wire lol. However the parts Clint welded(the Mounting brackets on the A-Arms and parts of the front mounts) look great, but he welds all day for a living lol. If you want you can call them gorilla welds(UGLY but STRONG lol) I made the Brackets using 1/4" Plate, I cut 2 pieces 2"x4", then drilled 2 holes a 1/2" from the side so that when the 1" tube is on the edge of the plate the holes are centered(get it) then I drilled the bars and ran a 3/8"-grade-8 bolt thru them both and put a nut on the plates side, then I just welded the nut to the plate.

For front Support the strongest Point was The bottom of the rad. support. To make these mounts I Welded 2 "tabs" on top of the tube steel under the rad support then Welded 2 pieces of the 1x1 tube to the bottom of the rad support to line up with the side of the tabs, then same thing just ran a bolt thru it and welded a nut to the "tab". I also Welded a cross member between these "tabs made of 2x2" tube.

I still have to weld in 2 more support bars from the crash bar to the 2 long rails right in front of the bumper, these will also bolt to the frame, then I'm going to add 2 more cross members made of the 1x1" tube 1 under the tranny pan and 1 under the oil pan, Im probably also gona weld a piece of 1" angle On the end of the frame where it sits under the lip of the bumper.

For the "scrape plate" I may end up using something thinner such as 1/8" to save on weight and because Im trying to keep it as low with the frame as possible.

THANKS ALOT for the interest guys its really keeping me going!, Well back to work, today my plans are:
Finish the Bottle/Spare tire frame mold and lay some glass on it
Weld in the cross members and crash bar beams on the frame
and Wipe the flares and front bumper and start shaping it.

Ill get some more pics of that tonight If I get the chance to work on it as planned(girl is moving and gotta help her pack first lol)

UPDATE!

Ok left everyone hanging last night had a busy night, bodydropping the bed on rods truck and working on my car.
Last Night I finished welding up the drag frame and THEN found out my friend dropped it while it was only tacked and that mis-formed it, so needless to say it wont fit right so I gotta cut it all apart today and go back to step one, good news is I got my plates cut for it and they just gotta get welded on after I line it all back up and weld it all back together.
I forgot my cam so I didnt get pics of it while the car was up Ill get some today.

I also Finished the Mold for the Spare tire/bottle/Second battery rack done Just gotta lay the glass now. In the Pics theres a gap between the rim and rack, but thats because its the OEM 15" wheel and wont go all the way down, the new rims are much bigger and will fit easy. I also still have to paint the tank and pick up another yallowtop, The yellowtop goes in the center of it, and the bottle in its cradle and the rim is obvious.
PICS:

Ill start laying the glass tonight or tommrow.

OK, I've gotta ask. As I remember, you cut out basically the entire rear deck correct?? How much have you driven it since you cut it and have you noticed any problems? Also, do you have a rear strut tower brace helping keep things in place?

Here's what I've done so far (tho I'm probably going to finish it quite differently than what you plan on doing to your rear deck)
< The speakers are now sitting down where the backseats normally go - not way up there, the black stuff is rubberized undercoating

Now, my plans are to make a replacement piece to be welded in there, that will hang down as low as possible (w/o serious mods to the trunk pieces) so that I can fit 1 or maybe even 2 amps up there, under the cover (which will be glassed and have a plexi window) and I'm going to make some sorta speaker pods to hold component speakers (Type-R, prolly 6.5") that will be way out next to the C-pillars instead of in the middle like the stock crap. You'll notice that I have no rear STB, so that's why I haven't cut that L channel out yet - do you think it's safe for me to cut it out (keep in mind that my Cav is a DD)??

Ya'll have some interesting work done, I've gotta keep an eye out for it b/c it looks like it could be pretty cool when done.

wow man, you have been making a lot of progress lately, christ, last time you actualy had a lot of progress without things getting in your way was before you started on the flares and im getting real sick of seeing your car with the front ones still needing sanding!! lol. good luck with everything, just get it done already i wanna see it finished

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Yea, I wanted to get started on the flares last night but time didnt permit I will deffinatly be doing it tommrow at the latest time is running REALLY short now!

As far as the rear deck, Yes I cut it all out, and yes there are problems. After doing so and driving around for about 2 weeks Both of my rear 1/4 panels "saged" they both bowed out. Now The damage isint that noticeable, but you can feel it. Thats why my 1/4 panels are taking so long to completely finish, i have to put in a STB now and then use a hydraulic ram to re-expand the rear. Now your car being a 4 door SHOULD have alot more support than mine because you have the indipendant B Pillar. All I can say is good luck!

9 days , 0 hours, 23 min, 4 sec UNtill DEADLINE!

Alrite, well I'll just wait till I have an STB or something similar before I go and cut out the L bar. Maybe I'll see if one of the local guys can weld in a couple tubes in an X shape to connect the top and bottom ends of the strut towers in back.

Look into a Bolt in 3-point strut bar, i THINK Jason at a plus can get one for our cars, If not get one for something like a neon or a civic and weld it in, thats gona be your best bet.
