Want something done right.....gotta do it yourself
Sunday, December 18, 2005 9:42 PM
Well after the Speed Shop in Loves Park, IL had my car for 14 months and basically ruined it Ive started working on it again. What a bunch of @!#$ing hacks!!! If you want to read the whole story and view tons of picks go to the WI regional forum. Im pursuing a legal route right now trying to sue them since I drove the car down there and had to trailer it home since it no longer ran and had about 1/2 the car missing, also missing over $5000 in parts. But all I can say is..............damm I forgot how much I love diong bodywork.

On with teh pics. Gonna finihs up the turnklid this week, do some welding and have it in primer this weekend.

You should have seen all the hack's bodywork I had to grind off just to get the trunk to close properly. There was filler added to the bottom of the wing that hit on both 1/4 panels, had to grind that off. Plus the bottom corners of the turnklid hit on the blended part of the rear bumper by the corners of the tailights. Finally got the seams all evened up and the weatherstripping in and it closes right so now I have to redo all the work they @!#$ up.

i love the choice of tails... much better than the alero tails. the only thing i don't like is where it curves down on the doors. still mad props on it though, it's lookin great.

Those might be getting changed. They @!#$ up how I wanted them. The bottom line is straight and I told them to curve it down like the top one. Thats getting ground off, prob gonna thin out the top one too.

I just cant stand widebodys that stop at the back of the doors, looks ghey to me, you have to keep it flowing with the rest of the cars bodylines.

im mad that your car looks that good. wow.

dreams are useless if you do not possess the abilties required to make them your reality.

^I liked the alero tails too. but i love the TC tails!

Always have been a fan brian.. Sucks bout what the shop did.. Hell u could have kept it instead of sending it and be at the same stage maybe further... Definatly have been waiting for this to be done since back in late 03 i believe when u first started doing body work too it.. So this will be done before christmas right? I think JBO deserves a xmas present of it being done Ok if not JBO atleast a present for me

I completly agree with your statement, doing it yourself is the only way to get something done, well done right at least.

The car looks great, all the changes flow and it's obvious you've spent a lot of time planning it out and then doing the work itself. I tried to do the same with the sunfire I had but not as large of a project obviously, despite the kit being a lil outrageous I think the lines still flowed as do yours.

On the otherhand and as others have stated, I'd really like to see you actually finish this car. I realized everything can and will be an ongoing project but finish this thing off. I'd really hate to see it get wrecked/vandalized/whatever before you actually get a chance to enjoy seeing all the workd you did in paint. With that being said, nice work.... now keep going with it.

wow, brian.. ive been her since you basically got that kit for the car
and most of the different stages its been through.

I cant believe they actually charged you, f- that.. how much did they get you for..

and your diffinatley right.. they only way to do something right is to do it yourself.

you know i would buy a 2.2 eco ow and just slap it in there.. but thats just me..

soo.. the 24. million dollar question is????

what stuff did they steal that was %5000 in parts?

What are you going to do as far as SUE THIS MORONS...
i would have taken it back...

WOW, sucks to hear they @!#$ you over like that, take them to court, sue them for everything they have, close their shop down, they dont need to be in business if they are going to treat their customers like that.

one of your first posts i remember was the big break kit, none specifically before that, but i have been watching your car ever since, i cant wait to see it done, its like waiting for Blues car. the anticipation kills.

Sigga what?

Ive got a full list at home but here are some of the things I was missing.

Pass door
Pass window
1/4 glass
windshield
AC lines
suicide hinge kit( they used the stock hinges on the back of the door, well tried to)
sunroof(car went down there with a sunroof now has none, never put in the G6 sunroof)
exhaust from cat convert back, muffler
tons of other little @!#$
I had 3 trunks total that went down, only got 1 back.

Granted I went to the dealership to get prices but Id end up getting them thru a junkyard or gmpartsdirect. The OEM sunroof alone is over $1100 just for the framework and glass.

Hopefully today Ill be cutting out my filler plates so I can flush mount two 7" TVs in the rear bumper.
