Project Stupid Fast Ecotec... Stage I complete!

Well, the new WAI is on, the header is on, we're 90% finished polishing... inside lay GM cam gears, LZM Stage II cams (non-tri flow... I require lope!), a LZM balance shaft delete kit, a SPEC stage III clutch, and a Team Green LSD.

No dyno #s yet not worth it for a motor thats getting tossed in a month... throwing in 11:1 pistons, eagle h-beam rods, arp head studs, patriot stage II head, SCE titan ICS head gasket, a custom IM and 75mm LS1 TB... but the car feels faster than my old 2.4 that ran 14.996@90.44mph.

That header looks awesome. You should have everything coated in that finish, that'd look pretty sweet

Electrical Tape... had to cover the hole for the evap @!#$... and since there is no room to put a clamp on there (the throttle arm is like .5mm from the the silicone)... worked good as a clamp Its an ebay 2.4 intake, fits like absolute ass... oh well.

FP usually sits at 65... which isnt right, it should be like 50-55 IIRC... havent really gotten into trying to fix it.

I had a shop install the LSD, the same shop Lenko had install his.

EMS... not a megasquirt... the megasquirt is cool and all, but I'll make more horsepower with a more advanced unit. Right now my #1 runner is the Haltech... either the e6x or e8. I want really good datalogging, which might rule out the e6x.... I'll be throwing on an MSD DIS-II and blaster coils, as well for two step action.

The engine bay is nothing special, I still really want to clean up the wiring... LZM does really good work... you wouldnt be able to tell that its swap other than a few clues like missing A/C or custom bracketry... started off with a near fully loaded car, and soon it'll be a base model. Still got more polish work todo, many props to the girl friend for doing the majority of it.

QBE, the LSD install was $300cdn... with a new front seal.

My old 2.4... how I dont mis thou!

lol i should hope so! We just had two Jersey J members with practically stock eco's trapping 90mph last night and hitting 14.83 and 14.9X.... This kinda thing seriously makes me want to go along a similar route to yours Owen. Please, get to a track soon, even if the ET's aren't stellar I'd like to know the traps with the balance shafts deleted and cams.

looks good man!

Re: Project Stupid Fast Ecotec... Stage I complete

the car wont be run at a track until the new motor is in either... a trip to the track is just too expensive for me (its $150-200 event by the time I'm done, damn ferries) when I'm spending god awful ammounts building a motor...

Go checkout my reg, it wasnt a stock 2.4, I had damn near every bolt on money could buy in my car before

I commend you for goin all motor. should be worth it in the end.

150 total cost just to go to a track is alot. mines is 5 min away 5 dollars to get in but oh well, our only track is closed down for good.

Re: Project Stupid Fast Ecotec... Stage I complete

i think you should dyno it in it's current form as i'm sure some of the eco guys would like to see what the stages are adding hp wise... i know i'm interested.

scarab... damn... 14 second runs... i've trapped 90 in my cavalier and am still in the mid 15's... either i suck or i need to hit a different track
