BlackEcos Rear Fiberglass Speaker Deck

Well since the dashpod is essentially done, just waiting on my friend to paint it I decided to start on another fiberglass project. Any tips or comments are welcomed.

I have reinforced the speaker bezels with thick mat fiberglass so they hold the speakers in place since the speakers will be mounting directly to the back of the bezels and hanging from the deck.
The next step is a lot of sanding, filling and shaping, and then I will be dropping some crushed velvet over the whole top and applying more fiberglass and blocking it, sanding it all down then primer and paint. So we have a ways to go but it should be pretty cool when finished.

The speakers will be mounting from the bottom on bolts which I plan on locking in from the top of the bezels (and filling the holes) Ill be cutting holes through the metal sub-deck with a 120mm hole saw in case the speakers need to hang down further.

The back side of the pod is going to slope back more, Im going to use some foam to shape the contour.

your speaker magnets must be tiny for a 6x9 cause mine hit the metal in the exact spot u put urs did you make sure it fit before glassing?

have u put it back in the car and checked it, if you let the glass dry like that theres a chance that when it cured it bowed the front piece out and it may not fit right.

Yea, fitment could be an issue. I learned that pretty quick. Suggestion is to let it cure some, then install it so it can fully cure and not warp.

It fits Ive checked it. Right now I got foam shaped around the speaker bezels for the contouring, It almost ready to lay down the crushed velvet and start fiberglassing and filling.

You are going to hang something relatively heavy that vibrates by rings of plastic , only attatched by a small surface area of fiberglass on the top of the rings?
You are much more brave than I..... I would put money on a speaker grill breaking free from the glass and falling to the deck..... especially when you have magnets just mm's away from metal like that.
Looks good otherwise.

I have a notched wooden block epoxied between the deck and the plastic bezel, the fiberglass could still crack around the ring, but they are pretty well locked in. Only one way to find out.
