I have almost the same exact setup. 2005, stock exhaust with a Magnaflow and mine sounds better (I think). I don't have the crackle and poping sound. Could just be the camera phone (mines a cam phone as well, and kinda sucks).

yeah it really doesnt sound that great it crackles and pops man and that makes it sound like &$!?
all ecotec's have that popping sound

Exactly. Sounds so much better than any other four cylinder (except SRT4's and WRX's)
I've got that same setup. All stock with magnaflow muffler. I've noticed that if you turn on the ac theres very little popping noise, where as having it off theres lots of popping noise.

Sounds.....ah..not good
To much popping and crackling.
Get a resonator and a full exhaust on it if you can.

I like the popping... keeps it from sounding like a ricey piece of crap.
It's just overrunning, like V8's do but not as pronounced.
I will definitely not ever change my setup unless I decide to spend a lot of money and get the Borla catback.
Here is mine, stock manifold, stock pipe to cat, stock cat, once it goes to the wheels from the wheels back its 2.25" with 1 magnaflow muffler sideways with duals.(camaro style)
