Cav factory shiftkit. Lol
Monday, July 10, 2006 3:08 PM
I am just posting a vid of my car shifting into second gear. I figured this out when the IAT was unplugged that the car would shift like this. I just wish that the car had enough power to chirp the tires. But it does shift really really hard. I wish I could do this all the time.

Doesn't it run poorly though with the IAT unplugged because it's just running on guessed maps?

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

I unplugged it then once the light came on plugged it back in. so it was running fine. The bogging sound is my car needing a throttle position sensor though.

usually when you need a tps the car will want to stall. atleast that was my experience with needing a tps on my Dynasty I had. Car wouldn't even run or wouldn't run that good when mine went.

Wrong. When the IAT is not plugged in the ECU has not way of knowing the correct intake temp, so it can not add the correct amount of fuel. Power loss, just because the light is not on does not mean it is running correctly.

That's what I assumed. I might try it though, just to check out these hard shifts.

There is product that can help with the firmness of the shifts, but this is NOT the way to get it.

It is really bad on the tranny to do that, the line pressure is maxed, thats why its shifting so hard.

I know, but I don't have a four speed. But my car is so slow that shift speed is really not an issue anyway.

My car chirps hard in the 1-2 shift, can break them loose easily.

You do not hear the belt squeel going from first to second. There was a post a lil while back about it in the performance. So I posted it. Sorry if you wasted your time. You didnt have to click on it but you did oh well.

MAP sensor is what 'causes that. Mine's come unplugged, and yeah, its like turning a B&M SHift plus on Setting 2. OUCH!

Car runs like crap with it unplugged. Wants to stall at stops, shifts uber hard, and its just not fun....

Easy fix thou. Just re-connect the vacuum line.

this is freakin weird. Not but an hour after I post that, my old lady calls me. She goes, why is my car shifting like yours with the B&M on... Damn that vacuum line!

BTW, that noise you hear when you shift, the squeak, is NOT a belt squeal, thats the transmission shift solenoid letting out the line pressure on the shift.

Stenger-
More than just the MAP causes this, his was the IAT (as stated in the original post). Just about any check engine light issue will cause this problem, save things like the emissions codes.

My cousins ford sounds the same shifting with his SCT program. Although it did it stock to on the F-150. I dont drive it like that. it's 2nd time I've ever done that on the car. I dont want to have to waiste $1000 on a trans for this car thats for sure. I just find it strange that GM would make their vehicles do things like this because of check engine lights. It scared me the first time it did it coming home from the track having around a 1 hour drive with it like that. cleared the Code and it was back to normal.
