I just wanna know what it sounds like before I go and do the work. I know you can notice a diff, but is it like a really short lope sound or you can just tell the diff in the exhaust note? if anyone has a vid or sound clip of it that would be awesome. thanks!

Hmm... Why don't you just come over to the house. the 2.3 will sound just like the 2.4 with the same cams. Really you can't hear much difference. When it comes down to an idle it kinda loped a little, but really I don't think it is going to change your sound to much. Hell yours is still so load you will not be able to tell, but it doesn't scare me when you start the car anymore.
it's too small of an upgrade to lope, even an HO cam at .410 lift won't lope...lope is caused by overlap correct me if I'm wrong? either way, you won't notice a difference in idle
See I told you. I was thinkin' that I heard it, but I'm sure that it was just learning idle since I just redid everything.
Any difference you hear is in your head IMHO.
Yep, no difference in sound. I have 2 J-Bodies with the cam/lifter swap
"Been there, done that, got the T-Shirt..."
That is funny I have 2 J One with the Secret cams one with the Mantapart cams (which are suppose to be the same) and you can hear it in both cars. One is a auto and you here it more in the auto's because of the low idle. You can hear the motor pull all the way to redline. I have had many J owners without cams say that "I can hear it pulling to redline". Maybe the average person can't hear it,but I think if you really know what the 2.4 sounds like you can. Every auto 2.4 we have put cams on you can hear a lope at idle.

^^^That is GOOD news.... because.... welll..... I have an auto with these cams hehe.

Both of mine are 5-Speeds. Maybe that's why?

Mine is an auto also, but one helpfull key is my exhaust is off from the axle back cause I'm moving the dual RK mufflers in closer to be center. It is a major pain in my butt to get them apart right in the middle to push them together.
Mine lopes a little when warm, annoying actually, cause it shakes the car a little (vibes). I'm thinking its the spark plug gap.
Are you sure the vibs are not just from your RK mounts?
There was a vid of the stage 2 jbo cams on an auto, and it was loping.
But I"m an auto too with the 200@ .375 intake/exhaust cams , and it 'simu'-lopes.
Like it wants to lope kinda sort of but not a true v8 style sound.
Granted I'm on stock exhaust.
