its not bad but definetly could use some work
does look good but i say leave hood as is imo.
I'm glad you never got a chance to do that hood.
air ride and different wheels and i think ud be golden.
i'm baaaaack!!
new wheels, new wheels, new wheels
and touch up the interior and paint the door jams
other then that it looks nice
-----------------------------------------------------
98' Pontiac Sunfire SE
I can honestly say nothing on the interior is to my taste at all.
the exterior is alright though, i just am not a fan of those wheels
the work on the exterior looks top notch, some of the interior work looks choppy and half assed honestly
i dont mean to sound like a jerk or anything, just my input
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
i like it chris... as for the hood.. just do the eyelids.. and throw a eco in there
i like it,, i think u should paint ur interior with the same as the body.. would look hot. but def some black or gunmetal rims in 18s and air ride would really set that car off nicely
cars looking nice. I've never been a fan of your rims, but they look decent with your color scheme. I agree with the above on color matching the interior peices. that would be sick.
I was thinking of buying that screen on eBay, is it any good?
Dont kno if u painted ur car or some1 else did but if u paid for it id ask for my money back,u can see tons of spots where they missed,or "dead" spots in the paint as they r called and no its not the pics ive seen it all the time when people who dont have experience painting and especially with kandy paint,it happens all the time 2 newbs,as for your interior u have the idea but r u using all filler and no glass? u seriously nee to re-sand around that monitor there are waves in it everywhere,i think the cowl ho0d would lo0k pretty ko0l with ur car......and yea new wheels other than that u got the idea mayeb just lack of experience? go0d luck on it either way

*ahem* There's no "dead" spots in the paint where it was missed on the exterior. I was paid to paint the exterior (not jams)... and didn't charge him much of anything to paint it (i.e. I barely made any money on it at all). That particular paint, isn't your "typical" chamelion paint at all, and it is a freaking PITA to spray.
Your "normal" chamelion paints CAN be blended, this CANNOT. Example:
The "chips" out of the fiberglass on the front bumper where it sustained some minor damage, he wanted to know about fixing the damage and respraying it... blending it. On test panels, I tried blending the paint, it wasn't turning out at all. I called the company who makes the paint (Alsa), and asked them about blending the paint, if there was a special technique or something I hadn't known about even though I already knew the answer. Their exact words and I quote:
"There's not a snowball's chance in hell of blending this paint"
I've blended traditional chamelion paints before and you couldn't tell AT ALL where it was blended... this stuff on the other hand......
With that particular chamelion paint and it's chemical composition... it's designed to be able to get MANY different effects out of it's application, depending on the mixture of the binder/balancer or clear or whatever you want to use and the crystals. If you lay a coat over an existing coat, it changes the entire effect on how it looks and reacts to light. Taken directly from the website:
"While color-changing paints have been available for many years, SpectraFX takes "color shifting " to a whole new level.
Traditional color-changing paints create a swirl of different colors when you look at them from different angles. SpectraFX is different from these paints in that it creates a true "chameleon" color shift from 1 distinct color to another. This controlled color shift creates a much more dramatic effect, so that 2 people looking at the same object will see two completely different colors.
This dramatic color shift is the result of special, patented crystal flakes instead of color pigments used in traditional color-changing paints. And Alsa has put the creative control of these amazing crystal flakes in the consumers hands, by selling the flakes themselves instead of pre-mixed paints. So you are free to add them to any type of clear paint or coating you would like and you can also adjust the amount of flakes used to change effects."
That, and coupled with the "wonderful" paintbooth I had to work with (ask him... it's TOTALLY old school) and a poor light source... it turned out pretty damn good. (I have pics of the paintbooth set up if you'd like to see)
Basically, the only thing I charged him for was all the body work and the cost of the paint itself... because I knew how much of a pita that stuff was to spray.
So, unless you've had personal experience spraying Alsa, do some research before you bash someone else's work. (And FYI, I asked a TON of people in the business if they've ever sprayed Alsa, and NO ONE had before anywhere near me, or on the org [I asked]). Even the paint dealer, who'd had MANY cars in mags and had sprayed Chamelion paints many many many times before had never used it... so I was a guinea pig in that sense.
Thanks nikki for the stand up, lol
also thanks for all the good and bad comments! I would gladly spray the interior peices the body color and repaint the whole car if someone wants to help fork up the cost at some point, but on the other hand some day i will repaint it!
Premier Fyre14: and for your information there is no waves in my fiberglassed monitor install, i did that whole install in about 12 hours and it looks pretty damn good esp. since it was my first fiberglassing job other then my side skirts, also i didnt use hardly any filler at all, that was all done with Glass mat and resin. The radio relocate still hasnt been done due to lack of time!
as for the rims i plan on getting some new ones at somepoint in time!
thanks guys!

Premier Fyre14....get pooped on. streetside speed & custom, I don't think you should respray the whole car man. your obviously going to get chips in the bumper if you drive it. I just thought the interior would look hot as hell color matched. I know what you mean about the money thing though. Your future plans for mods sounds awesome. Keep us updated.
so fallen angel what website did u copy all that from? sounds like ur reading off the back of a spray can....
^^^^^^^^^^ man your so full of @!#$ and your self it aint funny! honestly if all your going to do is sit at your lil desk and bash ppl on the internet then you need to grow the @!#$ up and get a life!
the lemur: thanks bro for the comments atleast some ppl in this thread arent @!#$s, also right now like i said im more interested in paying off the car and building a 200-220WHP N/A motor so i can shut ppl up like premier fyre 14. but thanks, and i may sometime in the near future pick up a pint of the paint and play with a few interior peices!

I really don't like the interior at all. But to each their own. Don't really like the rims.
The exterior paint isn't my cup of tea either, but overall looks good.
Body needs some work looks like, Hood looks uneven in several pictures, fog lights..... yeah.
I understand chips in the paint happen while driving, but damn! Do you live on a gravel road or what?
I really wanna like this car, but just dont...
As stated above, the damage to the paint, the interior color scheme and how some things look incomplete, the rims, the foglights.... Sorry, man.
so much orangepeel in the paint, so many unfinished areas not painted, so many cracks in the fiberglass (interior/exterior) dent in the fender. Just so many flaws, and your BIG pic help to point that out. Sorry, BUT IT NEEDS ALOT of work before you post that many pics of a paint job.
Before you or your painter come back and tell me "your excuse" or that I don't know what I'm talking about, Ive seen show cars w/ custom paint. And they look nothin like this. If you call me out on it I will post pics of "real paint jobs" and prove my point.

i realy see no need for so many posts to turn into so much drama
honestly, ill be one of the first people to say "if you post pics, deal with what people have to say"
but honestly... this is getting to be one of those out of hand threads, and i would rather not see JBO go through with dealing with anothing one of those...

Premier Fyre or whatever the hell it is.... (and if for some reason it doesn't link directly, go to Paints and Additives, SpectraFX, and open up your eyes and read... smart ass)

As for the orange peel (since you know everything)... I never got around to wet sanding and buffing the car because:
1. When it was painted, I wanted to let it sit for a week before wet sanding and buffing, because for SOME reason
s eyes* that stuff takes forever to set enough to wet sand and buff without risking rolling the clear (I'm sure you know what that is right?)
2. About a week after he got it back from paint, he got ran into a ditch, cracked some of the fiberglass, and was debating on whether or not he wanted all the body work done AGAIN and painted AGAIN (since, if you read above, that stuff CANNOT be blended.)
3. While he was still debating that fact, I did one more car before I got ill and had abdominal pain so bad I couldn't function unless I was on painkillers (fyi, painkillers and body work don't mix well at all). I ended up having to have surgery and spent a few months recovering. Twisted my knee up again, had a falling out with my old boss I rented shop space from, and wasn't able to paint anymore. Hell I was in a considerable amount of pain even before I worked on his car (not on painkillers at that time) but did it anyway
When it left the shop, there were no scratches, no dents, no dings... nothing. This was over a year ago.
He didn't pay me for a show car... or it would have looked like one. At the time, he wasn't looking for "top notch show quality"... or again it would have been flawless... and also at the time he didn't have the money or time for "top notch show quality". BTW, how many "show cars" are daily drivers?? Not very many... some yes... but not many. If I recall correctly, he wasn't even totally 100% sure how it was all going to look with that color either, so it was also kind of a trial thing at the time too (unless I'm mistaken for another?)
But wait... you knew all this right?? Ya know... before you opened your mouth? (Yes I'm in a bad mood today, so sue me)
I just love how everyone on this site anymore jumps to conclusions unless you provide your entire life story. The Scion Life forum has more people than the org, and they don't act nearly this retarded and assenine.
And no, his car, or many cars for that matter arn't everyone's cup of tea. if you don't like it, how hard is it to say something like C.T.S. said? "I don't really like it, it's not my cup of tea, but not bad" or whatever.

Exactly what im talking about james......
As for street speed no1 is bashing your car, when u post pics u have to be open to objective criticism,im not saying your car lo0ks bad it just lo0ks like it needs another coat of paint,i HAVE painted motorcycles gas tanks, fenders and several interior/exterior automotive parts with chameleon/kandy paint and it is very tough to see if you have missed spots or not....personally i think ur car is on the right track....if we were bashing you wed say it lo0ks like sh*t and so on and so forth, what u do with ur car and your money is your own thing but when you ask people for there comments and opinion dont lash back you can accept it or not,and if you cant then dont post pics.....

Dude, I think it's just the way you came off in your post. Have you sprayed Alsa paint before? They have awesome paint, but it's a biotch to work with. Motorcycle gas tanks and fenders are a whole different ball game when compared to spraying a whole car with this stuff, in a paintbooth with no overhead lighting, and 3 of your lights burned out because your boss went on a drinking binge and wouldn't replace them when he KNEW you had work to do... coupled with the fact that I had to "hurry up and get the car done" because his beater car got totalled.
Until you've done that, don't come on here and be a douche nozzle about it when you have no idea what was going on. If you read my post and the link to the paint company's web site, you'd know this is not your traditional chamelion paint AT ALL. The "chemical makeup" and the way the light refracts off of this paint is totally different than your regular run of the mill stuff. When you look at it in person, it looks totally different.
LMAO - so funny how you get all bent over the poor job of painting the car you did. ^^^^ If it is so hard for you to make it look right, you should not have done the job, and perhap reffered someon who could do it right.
