Cavalier and 69 camaro updates!
Tuesday, August 29, 2006 8:36 PM
Well for the cavalier i got this ... from a guy here in WI for free because he was moving away to detroit and needed it gone. So i took it off his hands and now its going in to get measures and .020" bored so i can build it up for some fun stuff with a turbo!

a fun bucket of mistory bolts.

NOW for the camaro

My dad picked up a 69 camaro from a swap meet around here and we have been working on it slowly but surly awaiting to hear back from my dads fried to send it down to be stripped of the primer and then get sent over to another firends house to have body work done! Well we got the word and worked on it nearly all day it is completly stripped and is ready to go there.

^^^ there are stock parts up there and along the wall in the addition we put on our garage to do a project like this. There is also a full disc brake conversion all around for it, new hood, front bumper, all new inteior pieces, fenders, new chrome parts all around etc...

THIS RIGHT HERE IS MY FUN!!!

this is a 350 sb. Now this wont be any ordinary 350 sb when its done It will be getting a new crank and pistons for actually make it a 383 sence the crank right now is only a 2 bolt main and to make the new crank fit we need to add spaded mains to it drill and tape the other 2 bolts and get everything balanced and have it all nicly done! Ok well thats not it lol come on why make a 350 sb a 383 sb with out any thing else in a 69 camaro?

TEHEHEHE

The cars (both my 2002 ls sport cavy and this 69 camaro will BOTH be getting turbos!! oh heck ya i said it! So fare my dad only wants to put a single turbo but COME ON THIS IS A CAMARO GIVE IT SOME BALLS!! im trying to convince him to twin charge it. but we will see how that comes on. The 350 goes in for engine work durign the winter. The camaro will be apinted a midnight blue with ghosted black strips in it. And will be getting upgraded from a auto to a 6 spd. so you can picture the fun we will have with it!

let me here it guys/gals.

twin turbo the camaro
it will prolly be easier to run the manifolds that way because with a single turbo youre going to have to get both exhaust port sides to one turbo

Hey good luck with the SBC. Unless thats a high iron content block i would probably not even hastle with the machineing and just go with a World Products Motown SBC block. There alittle expensive $2200 bare but you dont have to worry about cracking the block under high boost. Stock SBC blocks cant take to much power before they crack. Just a heads up. I went with the World Products Merlin Bigh Block for my camaro 85 and the quality is amazeing.

whitecavy ... this is how i got the engine! The guy i got the engine from had some of the bolts in so i can copy it all and find the rest of them. whats left in that bucket is the main and head bolts. the camaro has a wall of baggies for bolts, screws, and small parts

thanks for the comments guys .. and yes i messed up, it is splayed. The reson i think my dad is only thinking about single turbo is because the 6 spd tranny were getting can only hold about 600 hp. SO we cant be running to much boost but still a twin charger would be hot . i will tell my dad about that block Siegel1719! thanks for that!

my engine will possibly be getting new internals before the maro but we will see how my funding goes.

well a small update the maro is gone to the shop getting all preped. not getting paint yet. we are going to get stuff set up before its ready for paint the turbo will be a remote set up (mounted in the rear) and all that good stuff. when my dad buys the charge pipes i will be ordering mandrel bend tubing for my custom intake (mock up of a 2.3 HO) and tubing for my charge pipes (bulk order = cheaper) and my black got sent to get measured and honed and possibly line bored. and if needed .020 over bore. The VC got sent off to get podwer coated eather chrome or orange (chrome if they have it orange if they dont have chrome). Thats about it right now until i FULLY pay the rest of the 1800 left on the car then comes suspension and turbo stuff!!

remote turbo setup oin a older camaro...ghey...go twin turbo...the amount of boost your car sees means nothing when your talking about single or twin turbo, you could run 3 lbs of boost on a twin turbo setup if you wanted to, and you could run 30 lbs of boost with a single turbo if you wanted to. The reason you see almost every V8 twin turboed is because of obviously two exhaust manifolds. Talk your dad into buying Banks twin turbo system for a small block. They have turbo systems for stock small blocks up to 1200 hp small blocks runnign on pump gas. They even sell a complete motor with the turbo system able to make 1200 hp. Common, do it up!
