birthday+summer=PARTS!!! (56K let it load)
Sunday, September 17, 2006 9:56 PM
Well during my summer of working I bought parts regularly but then I found out I had to start saving for college and my last paycheck came on my birthday so I decided to purchase a rather large birthday present for myself.
All of this stuff I have been gathering for about the past 6 months and it will all be installed as soon as I get my interior painted. So most likely this spring.
I know it's not as much as some people but I think i've done quite well for a 17 year old still in high school.

Let me know what you think. Any questions or comments are welcome.

First off, my oznium switches. Prolly one of the best purchases i've made becuse they come with leads already attached.

Haynes Manual

My new components. Alpine Type-R 6.5".

My new mono amp. Alpine MRD-M1005.

Always underrated. One more reason to love Alpine.

CD drive for my carputer project. Got it on sale at best buy for 40$. Reads and writes basically every format.

Cold cathodes from oznium. All red.

Mini piezos to hook up to my alarm for the inside.

Car cleaning supplies. I think I own more towels for my car then we do for our family.

JBNW stickers. The JBO ones are already on my car.

Another one of the nicest purchases i've made. Craftsman metric 1/4" drive set. Perfect for j-bodies.

Torx bits and magnetic tray.

My wire for the audio. It's all stinger 0/1 and 4 ga and then a spool of hookup wire for cathodes and such.

My 125$ find. ALpine Type-X 12" sub. Gotta love shopping around.

My 200$ find. Alpine MRV-F545 4 channel amp. Once again, gotta love shopping around.

And once again, underrated.

And then some all together shots. I've got in addition, a whole interior sitting down here and the catback exhaust I got for 15$.

Only thing thats left out is my Alpine CDA-9835 headunit. Its already in the car.

Any questions or comments are welcome.

Ya, I guess I'll find out if its gonna be too much for me. At least I know the Type-X should definately hold the power.

You can have the leftover if I don't use the third one.

Ya, thanks for that site.
Pfft. I spend it on car audio, you spend it on drums. Don't worry though, drums are right up there on my list too.

They aren't too bad at all. A GIANT step up from walmart tools so I definately can't complain.

Thanks. And hopefully it will be sooner than later.

Thanks. Ya, I'm one that likes to plan stuff so once I get all the inside stuff ready and all the parts here, I'll wait till a long weekend and I'll get the windows tinted and install everything all at once.

The 1005 is brand new from etronics and I got it for $350. Only thing is it doesn't have a warranty because it's not an authorized retailer, so... kinda have to debate if you want the Alpine warranty or not.
I'll let you know. The only thing I can see being a problem is that this sub doesn't like to be played quiet. It kinda has a rattle at lower volume but as soon as turned up it's fine. I guess I'll find out.

big poppa wrote:sweet. can't wait to start seeing the process pics next
Thanks. Hopefully in the coming weeks i'll get started on painting the interior. Actually I might go take a bath with a couple pieces and give um a sand down. Too cold outside.

Ya, they're from nomad. In the pics they are flipped over and then mirrored so people can see what they look like. When they go on the car then the outline will be behind the lettering.

brian mooney wrote:I wish i had a job like you do to spend that much money when i was in high school!
Ya, I kinda had a profitable summer. They were short on help so the lowest week I got was 40 hours and the highest was 60 so I got a lot of overtime. I prolly spent more than I should have but life's life.

Ya, the mother doesn't really allow engine mods and I don't have a garage to work on the motor so thats why theres more of the interior and audio. And those little feet are part of an art project for school a while ago. Thanks.

When I posted the pics i noticed that it looked like that too but, no, they're not cut. The wire just kinda blends in there really well. Thanks.
