Well, I have been here a long time, hopefully have helped some people, and I have been thinking a lot lately. As many people know, I have been working on my own built motor/turbo setup a long time. Like a lot of us, we have invested our lives and A LOT of money into our J's. Well, all that i had left to do was purchase and fit my charge pipes and drop the motor in, but it looks like that wont happen. I have realize d that this is no spot for an 18 year old kid heading off to collage with A LOT of things to pay for(Wyotech) to be in. It has taken me a while to realize it, but now that is is close tot the Oct. 2nd start day, I have to cut it loose. Also, no matter how I build it right now, I will not be happy with it, which is another thing that aggrivates me. My real love is in naturally aspiration, and my first goal ever was 350 hp N/A, but, soon after looking at my budget(which i ended up going way over anyways) I knew there was no possibility, so I went the route than many of us have. I have been designing a N/A build for a 2.3 that will involve custom crank/rods/pistons/cams taht is going to cost me A LOT of money, so I am not leaving the J scene for good, I will be back, but it will be when I have more money and resources to do so.
None of those reasons above contributed to my decision as much as my talk with my father last night. Earlier this year, my father was diagnosed with Melanoma, went through a few surgeries and is now cancer free, but the doctors told him that it will more than likely be back, so we dont take anything for granted anymore. We proceeded to talk about some things, and he told me that he really wants to get his Nova finished. Then he told me he would give me the Nova, along with his money to build this. He built it when he was 17 years old, and basically I want to build it for him this time as he owns his own business and works ALL the time.
The moral to this story is, I am done with this run around in the J scene and thought I would show a pic of the finished motor. I am getting rid of everything, I am not sure how yet, but I have a ton of crap. Built motor/NVG tranny/3 other 2.4 motors/Car with no motor(what the built motor was going into), MSD setup, I dont even know waht I all have, its all in a shipping container and what I could fit in a 2 car garage I did. I will eventually get a forsale ad up, all I know is I have no interest in this build anymore. I am sure people will say, blah blah another kid doesnt finish his project, well, I came the whole way, there really isnt much work left, I just strongly feel that this is no place for me to be in right now. I will be back stronger and Naturally Asperated. I already have ideas of the next one which I will let you in on:
02 stock cavalier
2.3 NA built stroker (not giving dimentions)
NVG T550 with torsion(try to find one anyway)
Ran with a standalone, right now I am thinking Megasquirt, but if I have more money I may go with a AEM, Tech 3, Haltech, or something of the like.
Here is the pic of my finished motor(a little dusty, I was sanding on another project and forgot to put the engine bag on, dont worry all important holes are plugged)
Why not use your car as a project one for Wyotech (if they require that sorta thing)?

I really want to take the Nova instead, and that will be an extensive project, my car will sit at my house for a year without a motor in it and nobody driving it. BTW, my family and friends are PISSED at me for this decision but, from the start it wasnt something i wanted, and throughout the whole thing I kept changing things, getting more expensive. Everytime i went to put it together, I would do something else, put more money into it, but better parts, it just got rediculous. I have my sights set on N/A 2.3 built that I will perfect out there in Wyoming in Engine performance class. I have a lot of the demensions down, but my cam design isnt set in stone yet, and simply, I have no money to carry this project on with. If I break something, which I think I have everything covered, I am toasted, which isnt a good feeling, I want to start from scratch, keep the car completely stock, with a nasty n/a build. It is aobut the only thing that will make me happy, so i will go back after it when I am on my feet finantially.
actually it had worked for awhile kardain before it said not to link it
Probably because it was a cached image? Not sure...
completely off topic, but check your PM

well it sucks that you put all that time into and now nothing but its very understandable about the nova. Good luck with everything
Cody, I can't say I love your decision but it's yours to make... too bad that NVG you got didn't have the torsen like you thought I'd get you to gut it out for me haha.
Good luck, I know you really wanna do that 2.3 build and in time you will. Focus on what's important.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
Well, there is only really one chance of keeping it, about a 2 percent chance, if I can unload my 99Z24 instead of all the built stuff and the 96z, I am trying, but I dont see it selling in 5-6 days. Really, all of this is Chris's fault, (sweetness) I know I cant live up to his build, haha, just kidding playa.
Too bad to see you stop this close to completion. WyoTech is a great place though. I got some friends down there and they have some pretty impressive vehicles down there. Maybe there'll be something there to inspire you to come back to it or something. The nova should be sweet though. Good luck as a TECHer.

Really, honestly, yes, the car is on the lift, the K/Sub frame is on the floor, motor ready to bolt up, I just dont think I have enough time to get it running, tuned and ready to be driven well within a week. And I have 2 other cars to get ready within this week. Along with the Nova and other reasons.
