Well, the long waited for project has begun. I've wanted to do Air Ride on the car for quite some time, but I just never really bit the bullet. However, the other day I ended up buying the easy street kit off of my friend, and with the help of a few great friends we've got half the setup complete so far.
Some Pics with a little story behind each one to help explain what we've done so far.
Notice anything missing?...:
Yup, that's right...the spoiler is now off the car as I sold it this afternoon. The stock spoiler will be coming off aswell, and next season I'll be going wingless. I fell in love with a wingless sunfire a while back, but didn't want to re-paint the trunk, and with the widebody on the way, I thought this would be the best time to go ahead with the spoilerless look.
My fiberglass trunk enclosure:
After some smashing...
After some more yanking and smashing...
The end result...
I'm re-doing the trunk setup to incorporate the compressor and tank. I have an idea in my head of how it will look, and I will get it completed faster than the previous one. The fiberglass work seems as if it will never stop for me...sadly...neither will the sanding.
The switchbox (god how I love it)
This is crazy Chris (SunfighterGT)...not sure why he's laughing...maybe because I had to break out the dremmel again and again! LOL
Oh....the front end is being finished up.
A shot of the passenger side tire...it can't tuck yet, b/c the tires stick out too far. I have some work to do on the fenders first, but that will come once I start cutting it out making way for the widebody panels.
A side shot of the car...look at that dog leg...i bet Phewes can't even pull that one off
J/k Darren. haha Okay..I cheated...Darren left the jack under the tire
Tomorrow morning, we will be doing the rears, and hooking up the compressor and tank.
All the lines run through the interior of the car. We drilled holes in the engine bay and in the trunk to bring the air lines out to connect to the bags and used some gromets to keep things clean and safe. (and after today...I think Chris hates those rubber pieces even more).
A big thanks to you guys for your help, anytime you want to help out again please feel free
haha. After all, 5 suspension swaps in one day must have been quite an experience.
I'll keep the process pics coming along, as everything gets completed. I'll try to get some more of the dash done aswell sometime during the week. I recieved the t.vs for it, and I now have everything wired up and prepared to go.
i like the wingless idea.. damn bro selling the drugs are we? what do you do for a living and how can i get set up? lol
GOT ECOTEC?
lookin really good... keep up the incredible work.
Looks great cant wait to see it

BOOSTED CIVIC SIR wrote:i dont get it, how is it that your car tucks 19s and no one else seems to be able to tuck there front wheels?
Well you guys can..
My front fender lips is rolled, did some of hammer banging under both fender wells for a clearance, and taking front strut bags apart and trimmed 1/4" off those bump stops.
Thats all!
haha, hook us up with the PTcruiser, we cant tuck our front wheels neither
the thing is, yes Darren's cav tucks most of the front tire. He has Easystreet front struts like everyone else.
However my car tucks most all my tire up front too, and I have AIM fronts. With the Aim fronts my car lifts about 7-8inches from the lowest point. The Easystreet does not lift that high at all. Also the larger diameter wheel you have the more it will appear to tuck, if your on 17's and a 40series tire with air your not gonna tuck hardly any at all.
And with Darren's wheels, the Racing Hart c5R's that Aaron bought from Cavattack, they are suppose to be a special offset and 19x7.5 to allow for them to fit on a Bagged J-Body. However my 19x8's w/ a 35mm offset tuck just as much as his in the rear.
I was thinking of getting the Easystreet fronts to match my rears, but they don't lift that far for me. I think I'll stick with the AIM fronts, they are the older style so I heard they are a little bit nicer than the newer AIM fronts.
Steph's cavy with easystreet fronts, tukin almost all the tire with 16's Notice how much lower her front is than mine?
Look at the lift I get out of the Aim Fronts
And the lift on Easystreet fronts
I love Easystreet products, but they are maybe stock height or lower when all the way up. I need that little bit more to pull in and out of driveways with my bumper, don't wanna mess it up again.
But yeah I think my cav tucks just as much of the rear if not more than most others with 19's. It goes down till it hits the wheel tub. Maybe they'll get cut out and tubbed a little more so I can lay the rear on the ground.
Also I still rock the 19's, the 20's belong to one of my friends, he let me use them for a car show last week. I wanted to see how they would fit. So here is one last pic of the Cavy on 20's.
Big Poppa - Sorry to jack your thread, but make sure you get 2 dual needle guages so you can make sure you are riding level down the road, I've seen a few guys not running guages and have no idea what PSI they are runnin at.
I usually ride with about 50-60PSI in the rear, and between 40-50 up front for a smooth ride.
I think the reason I need so much in the rear is because of my heavy system that is back there, any lower than that and it is too soft.
