Updates! 56k approved thumbnails

Incase anyone does follow my car. Here are some updates that I've been slacking off posting.

Today's Modification:
These ugly rusty drums had to go:

But I've got a crappy job so I can't afford a conversion. Paint's the answer!

With the wheel back on.

And the finished product.

Unposted modifications:
One of my favorites is my Momo automatic shift knob, a real quality piece, and then the shortened shaft.

I liked the design of these Sparco pedals from the Sunfire HO. I still need to trim some of the pedal lever.

I was just playing around when I made this. A scrap of reflective yellow vinyl yielded a new arrowhead for the front bumper.

Todays Photoshoot:
Mid-wash.

Looking back at Los Angeles. A sharp eye will spot the Goodyear blimp.

02turbo: Photobucket resized my pictures, the blimp is only slightly larger in the original version. I didn't check my picture size before takeing these, I had left them on 1024x768 from an ebay auction.

Ruen: Thanks, pedals came from ebay.

scudz24: It's a great shift knob for an automatic. Most of the aftermarket knobs are cheap and don't have a button, they try to imitate a manual knob.

navycav3: Clickable thumbnails, you're welcome.

Kardain: thanks.

There are lots of great places to take car pictures in Arizona. A few that come to mind are on the other side of the state from you, but Tombstone is relatively close.

very nice pics man. car is clean and looks perfect imo.

few ?'s...
how does one go about shortening the shaft of an auto shifter?
ive looked at mine and it looks alot harder then simply just cutting the steel shaft and then the plastic button shaft on the inside... but if thats how u do it so be it i guess.

are those plastic gaurds in your rear fender wells standard on sunfires or just all newer j's? my 98 z doesnt have those...looks like it might be a good investment for me to get, cuz i hate the look of my fender wells.

Thanks, yes I'm still in the Los Angeles area, but I wish I could be back in Arizona. How are things going out there? If you still visit California regularly let me know we'll go do a photoshoot sometime.

Thank you for your compliments. I shortened the shaft by using a pipe cutter. It's pretty thick steel, just be patient and go slowly. When you've cut the shaft you'll need to deburr the edge to get the button shaft to work again. I used an old screwdriver and a file, again it's tough steel. Pry the burr upwards with the screwdriver and file it down. Once the button shaft moves again you can cut it to size with a hacksaw for a clean cut, or a large pair of sheers/cutters for a rougher cut. The stock shift knob will need new retainer slots, you could make those easily with a hack saw.

Well if you ever make it out to LA look me up, we'll take some pictures. I still have pictures from your visit to Phoenix a long time ago, your kit wasn't even painted then.

If you think it's that small in the pic, you probably didn't see it.
Clear as day when you know where it is.

Nice clean car. Lookin' good!
