For some reason this thread reminds me of a thread I read along time ago on the redline motorsports board about ian laceys car breaking and getting flatbedded........

Enough reminiscing, that blows man.

We should hold a wager as to how many 2x4's were needed to get that up onto the flatbed!

Sorry to hear it gave out on ya.

I could kick myself right now, shop said they'd have to tear it apart to find out whats wrong, for a total of $281 bucks, I said go ahead as I dont really have the time to swap a transmission and the car is my daily driver. They called me back today, $1980 to fix it! There is no way in hell I'm going to give them what the damn car is worth to fix just the transmission. Found a transmission for 1/16 of what they want to fix it for, now I have to find some way to get it home so I can try and find time to fix it in my driveway in the nice cold winter.....

Got the car home, had to fork over the $281 to the shop for tearing the trans down even though they were trying to rape me on fixing it. Cost me $86 bucks to rent a flatbed trailer to tow it home, rented the trailer at 4:00 for an hour for $25, and it was 5:02 when we got done, so they were closed, so I had to have the thing overnight. Went to Schrams Auto Parts yesterday, to purchase a $250 trans with 19K on it. I ask about the trans and he says he doesn't see one for $250, another guy overheard us and said that it was this other salesman's quote. So I tell the guy I was looking for the trans and he asked what year my car was, and couldn't find the trans for $250 for an 01, I said I think it was out of a 00, he said that in his computer the trans codes are different, and 01 is seperate from 96-00 and that particular trans wouldn't work with my car? I thought all 2.4 4t4oe trans would work? Anyways the guy looked and had a 01 trans, I looked on the computer and it said $450 for it, he's like I can sell you an 01 trans for the same $250 price, so I asked how many miles were on it, he says 5K. So in the end I got a trans with less miles for the same price. Steve (ACav2Envy) let me borrow his engine hoist to support the engine, operantly I need to support it to swap the trans, thanks Steve! I should be starting the swap tomorrow, part of the work is done because the old trans is already out....
