HAHAHAHA Just kidding guys.
So far this is the BEST and CHEAPEST supporting mod i have done to my car. I had some misfires here and there on acceleration and now they are completely GONE!! The only other thing that comes close to price as far as mods go is the phonellic spacer, and that comes in at double the price.
The best part of the install last night was after wiring it up with help from Speedracer, is the fact it started first try. We (Speedracer, TaetschZ24, and I) all about @!#$ our pants. LOL
And before anyone says anything i know my engine bay is messy and im working on cleaning it up as i go just havent had tons of time to do it.

I only had white zipties to use... if i ever have black ones i will use em for sure.
Whitecavy... EASY as pie to do. (as long as you can use a soldering iron) Tip: Make sure to get thin solder or it can be a pita.
Never seen this used before, whats the benefit, stronger/more consistant spark? Whats going on, more info on the swap!
Let me know.

more info...and pics inside the idi!
Misnblu is the originator of the swap. So any info that i have got has been from his writeup even tho i did it w/o the info in front of me and now that i have done it, its fairly simple.
The big advantages are:
1 Less chance of arcing because of a bad housing aka the white piece under the idi cover
2 better spark and longer lasting coils because of the coils being away from heat
3 stronger spark for boosted apps
4 upgradeable to MSD products for even better spark
5 very cheap to do.
For my idi cover i took the white coil pack housing and left the ICM in place as it uses the idi cover as a heatsink. Beyond that its just standard 96 2.2 ohv wires and the coils and icm from the 2.2 ohv.
Im not sure where the link is to the writeup but i suggest people looking into it
Yours is the first one I have seen that looks good. You kept the IDI cover. nice job. I still do not believe in this mod. I might see it on high HP cars. Yours no I do not see it.

You know if this wasnt cheaper then buying a new coil pack housing as i needed one i prolly would nto have done it... but why spend the money on a coil pack housing when i can do this...
Also my car starts almost instantaneously even when cold.... when previously it would crank a couple times..
Im also looking into the future. Im aimin for 350 hp or higher by August this year.
Just today i took all my stuff out of my registry as it wasnt up to date as to what i have
Oh and thanks for the comment

I guess truly if you are happy with it that is what matters. I have heard people complain about the coil packs on the 2.4's and the housings. I have never replaced any of that on my cars. I have never seen a white houseing cracked on a 2.4. I have seen the spark plug boots cracked and those ark. That is why I have the RKSport boots and springs.

It does start up with just a 'click' of the starter!!!

Wrench, I thought the coils had to be from a 98+? which is 2200. Thats what Ive been reading.. As long as it works I guess.

what coils do you use? Cuz I'm having some sputter when I drive and it annoys me....either that or put brian in a box and ship him to my house, I'll give him a shed to sleep in and a blanket and some food until he's done then I'll drop him back in a box and ship him home

Ya know my coils did come off a 98+ 2.2... idk effing know those 2.2s at all so im not sure. but the plug wires for sure are from a 96

Sounds like a plan now i just need to drug him and put him in the box!
The 2.2 with the coils mounted on the drivers side between the motor and the airbox and battery are the coils you want... MAKE SURE to cut the plugs with about 5 inches of wire.. you NEED the plugs that go into the icm
is the ICM from a 98 aswell

so when u buy the icm it doesnt come with the plugs? and how much wire they give u with the plugs?

well you want to get these parts from a junkyard as it will save you tons of money. so you will want to cut the wires with about 5 inches of wire.. You wan the WHOLE assembly from the 2.2 setup coils and icm. they are bolted together just like on my car
ok man thanx

whats the black box next to ur coilpack?

Heres the original write up for it. Thanks to Misnblu
I used the 98+ even tho his wiring didnt match... but Brian and I had to do some @!#$in around with the multimeter to figure it all out... maybe ill disassemble mine and do a wire schematic...
Second, remove the DIS coils and the complete assembly bracket which includes the ICM under the DIS coils and fastens to the engine under the intake manifold of the '95-'97 2.2 OHV (b) engines.
Do not use the DIS assemblies from the '98 or later engines which are mounted on the side of the engine, battery side. They are internally wired differently and won't match the diagrams or schematics of what we're about to do here
lol just saw that in the website u just gave....thats y u had problems
you scratch my ride IMA EAT YO CHILDREN
Didnt really have problems as i didnt have the instructions in front of me... just had to play with it to figure out what wires to connect... oh and that black box is my boost controller valve... it will be put back to use soon
did u keep ur battery up front even with boost.....if not y did u put it back?
