hey guys i finally got my oil catch can in. Its not done but you get the just of it...

I got a extra nipple and cut it down slightly bigger than a clamp and then cut the back off for less restriction in the intake.

I didnt get time to install my HE because GMpartsdirect is freakin slow but oh well. I will install it next week.

also here are some pics of the snow we got, i know its nothing to alot of you but it hasnt snowed like this in prob 10 years here

My new spoiler

what do you guys think

I was gonna buy a car cover but then i bought cams LOL

As far as the intake goes i dont mind bacause its gonna make my engine alot cleaner.

As far as the catch can goes i can give you a crappy idea. I know phlatcav installed his and there is alot of good info in that thread. But this is my way. I used to have a little filter in my breather valve on the cam cover and when i was under boost oil would spray out through the filter and get everywhere! So the point of the catch can is to catch the oil that gets spit out the cover and return the extra air that gets out into the motor supposedly it helps with emmissions or something. I really olny did it so i dont have oil all over my engine

*EDIT*

here is phlatcav's thread
clicky clicky

very nice. uhm, so its a "boost" thing then, ok i understand now
i'll hafta keep that in mind when i start collecting my turbo parts. what kind is yours? i really like thats its blue.

uhm holy crap if i had oil sprayed all over my engine bay i would seriously have to die, WAY to much bling to polish up after something like that went down.

thanks for the info!

I have a question...

Why bother plumbing the catch can back into the intake...???

If the intake hose on the catch can comes off the engine block- it shouldn't be pressurized under boost..
Having the block under pressure is a bad thing... so If it is under pressure- bleeding the catch can to atmosphere would be a good thing--- right???

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please...

I wasn't trying to sound like a dick or anything- just asking....

I added mine for the same reason-- under certain conditions- my breather filter would spit oil... It was hanging kinda low on the engine. This lead me to beleive that some how my block was being pressurized under boost & I wanted to bleed it off without losing oil... Plus- having a pressurized block can lead to oil return problems from the turbo..

We are using the catch can for the same reason but different applications- so thats why mine is vented & yours is plumbed back in.

On a side note- the car looks tight, you're probably dying to drive it again...

oh yeah i didnt take it that way at all! but i didnt quite know how best to explain it. Everyone said that its best to return the vapors back into the motor so i figured if it wasnt going to hurt it then lets do it. I got the catch can off ebay its for a nissian 240Z or something????

but i wanted one just like it and since im going to paint it it didnt matter what color it is.

lol, i feel dumb now. I had no idea that the breather filters leaked under boost. i was wondering why i have oil spraying off the drive belt. i should change that now.

The PCV system works two ways. One, it helps scavange blow by from the crank case. This blow by dirties the oil faster, and can cause other 'issues'. Two, it works in two ways. First, it uses vaccum from the intake tube (suction) to draw vapers from the crank case. Second, it allows 'filtered air' into the crank case when there is a low pressure.

The down side, you draw oil into the intake along with the vapors. Thats where the Catch can, or in a 2.4's case, the Air/Oil seperator comes into play.

There is no boost in the intake before the t/b, on the Eco S/C..... so where he has it is ideal. On a turbo setup, you need to get it in between the turbo and air filter...... or put a one way PCV valve on it, and put on a charge pipe.
