thats pam
jons female
jon is my hero, he rescued me awhile ago
.
Kinda fuuny we both drove out of MI in Feb. without hoods to buy a Turbo Sport Hood.
something comes to mind... it sounds like it was a very long trip (mi to ky) why not just pay for shipping?
as for the hood not latching, we had to hack saw the actual latch (the triangular looking piece that latches into the hood latch) a litle bit because my vis hood didnt have that hole in the hood for the triangular piece to go up into. so i feel ur pain with the latch not working properly etc.
sucks u had to cut ur nice aluminum adaptor
T2 is right, that is Pam she tried to hide when the camera came out and I'm proud to still be on his hero list.
James that is ironic, where did you end up going to get yours?
Zyaa, I had to do the same thing with the stricker on the hood for my sunfire long ago. I was surprised this hood had the hole for the striker alignment tab. As for taking the trip vs shipping. Samantha didn't want to ship the hood and road trips are fun anyways

i think somebody may have cut that hole out... to me it doesnt look like a factory thing for that hood, just looks like it was cut out.
i honestly think the reason my VIS hood didnt have the hole for the "striker" was for strength so the catch latch bolts dont rip out due to the wind. i didnt mind having to modify the "striker" tab (thanks for clearing up the definition for me
) i think it worked great, and i just moved the entire latch assembly down to the lowest point i could, that way i didnt have to use washers to have the catch latch hang down farther. my hood also didnt have the tiny hole cut out of it for that tab on the catch latch, i had to cut that off as well for it to work.

Hood looks sweet jon, cant wait to see it at the bbq.
I bought mine from Ben (Tabasco Racing) in Feb 04 and Drove to West Virginia to get it.
It looks like whoever sanded it sanded ALL the Gel coating (white stuff) off the Fiberglass. Wonder why?
Z yaaa - M y dad lives in Lexington KY, It is a 6hour drive for me to get there in my Cav. It takes 1 COMPLETE FULL TANK to get there and 1 to get back. $60 in gas and 12 hours or so of driving it ALOT cheaper than shipping a hood Via Freight Truck. Plus the ROADTRIPS are AWESOME!
Sould of told me you were comming
z yaaaa: I'm not sure if it was cut from Class Glass or by the prior owner. I believe the mold was made without a hole and probably cut afterwards based upon it not being a perfect square. I assume there needs to be a hole there for the secondary latch/safety catch. Some people use hood pins so you're probably right, cut afterwards.
Aaron, I had no idea you were from KY, which part?
James, Yeah it sounds like we did similar trips... the pics from your old post don't seem to load though.
