Finally lowered again... the right way this time :-D
Saturday, May 12, 2007 1:35 PM
Some of you may or may not remember that my car was lowered on Goldline springs (1.75") and stock struts from April of 2003 to June of 2005. After enduring a horribly bouncy ride for those two years I decided to put the stock springs back on until I could afford to do it right.

After a lot of research and the accumulation of all the necessary parts, KYB AGX adjustable struts, Eibach Pro Kit springs (1.4") and brand new Gabriel mounts and insulators all around, the car is once again lowered... the right way this time.

I couldn't be happier with the stance, the ride and the handling. It will be getting an alignment some time this week and then I will really be able to test out the new setup, but so far so good.

Watch for better quality pictures with a clean car next weekend. I just wanted to post these because I am so happy to have it lowered again and I couldn't resist posting a few "teaser" shots .

Questions, comments and / or concerns are more than welcome. Thanks for looking.

F.Y.I. next on the agenda is:
- replacing the windshield (lower trim is torn very badly)
- black vinyl strip on the inside upper windshield
- re-tinting the rear window (did not tint over the third brake light the first time; looks retarded )
- black vinyl strip on the inside upper rear window
- Pacesetter armor coated 4:1 header
- Magnaflow Car Sound OBD-II 16" high flow catalytic converter
- Magnaflow 22" resonator
- valve cover and fuel rail powder coated black
- AEM cold air intake with the metal tube powder coated black

I think it's because of uneven ground, but the right rear wheel looks like its sitting higher than stock..

Looks really good though

Yes, the yard is uneven. Forgot to mention that in the original post . Thanks for the kind words .

wow, those wheels look hot on a sunfire. who is the great guy that turned you on to them?

loving the drop, congrats.

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

very nice, i love the 1st pic, smooth and all around very clean, good job. always like what u do. I'm lowered on sprints and stockers and bad thing is there is really no handling difference.. just start in the curves lower lol i wish i could afford dspecs... o well i gotta take em out anyway to get rid of the car lol. but very well done i still think you need bigger rims like 26s.. ok exaggerating there, at least 18s, 19s would be sweeter with the whole clean look..

Yes the wheels do look hot ! Thanks again for pointing me in the direction of them. I couldn't be happier with the way they look with the drop. Thanks for the kind words as well.

Yeah, these pictures turned out okay, but wait until the car is clean and there is some nice scenery . As far as bigger wheels, I heard that 18s would have a rougher ride which is why I ended up going with the 17s. The car is a daily driver and I don't want to have to endure a crappy ride for the sake of looking good when I can look good and still have a nice ride.

Keep the questions, comments and / or concerns coming people...

I think also that anything bigger really needs a more aggressive drop to look right. Low profile tires demand small to nil wheelgap, and both of those things are sure to harshen your ride. You did the right thing, I think.

Yes, I couldn't be happier with the ride. It feels only slightly bouncier than stock. I am so happy I went with the AGX / Pro Kit combination.

Thanks . They're not really mouldings, they're door panels and side skirts that are attached with about 16 plugs per side. The only way to get rid of them would be to weld all those holes shut. Too much work and money in my opinion.
