Washed, Clayed, Scrach Revoved and Waxed, Opinions!
Sunday, May 13, 2007 10:54 AM
Hey before anybody says anything, I know It needs to be lowered. I just wanted to share a few pics of the time I put in this weekend to clean her up. It is to be reminded that it is a 99Z with original paint and It is also a daily driver all seasons, especially where I live in Atlantic Canada where the winters suck hard. It was the first time that I clay barred the car and WOW what a difference in a smooth surface.

All comments welcome

Thanks

what did you use for a buffer if you used one, and what products did you use? the car looks flawless, great job.

Well, I'm glad that you all appreciate a good clean looking car. I took a few hours of work but It turned out nice. To answer your question on what I used. Well first I washed it with just a regular car soap (RainX) in my case. then dried it off with a simonize "shammy". Then I applied the Mothers clay bar system with the show time detailing stray. From there I used Mothers Scrach remover on all bad visible swirls and scraches. And to finish it off I used Mothers "Carnauba Cleaner Wax". And for the less visible stuff Tires were dressed with Meguiars Hot Spay/Tire Shine. Windows were cleaned with Simple Green auto Glass Cleaner and well the Wheels where waxed with Mothers Mag Aluminum Polish.

Thanks for the positive comments

WOW, I wasn't expecting such positive response from everybody. Well that just makes my appreciate/like my car even if its a 99. Ah in passing the paint isnt the only thing in good shape. The engine only has 84000km on it. Yes I don't go far hehe

Thanks again guys for the uplifting comments

Nicely done.

Later on, you can move into the professional grade things with larger bars and conditioners, but that really look smooth. Black is such a bitch to clean, de-swirl, wax and re-wax... I used to have black cars until the silver bug bit

That's the kind of thing you want to do this time of year and right before the end of the season when you put the heavy coats of wax on for the winter. 2x a year and nano-wax...

Anyhow... Very nice.

Thanks again everybody for your comments, I really enjoy detailing, in my second life I would definitely do this for a living. The funny thing is is I try to keep my car always looking like that all summer.
