my 2.4 rebuild .. may need some advice

well since i got what i had to ship out .. done i thought i would come back and " hopefully set the past to the side" and show my engine rework to you guys .. what being done is a new block new head and up .. total rebuild/ replace

the damage .. the #2 cylinder has a chip oh top of the piston .. ouch ... i have a bit that i took off already .. still have a ways to go on it..

heres all the parts that were taken off so far


heres the chip in the piston ... ( not a crack but and actual chip)see if you can spot it




heres one with the bumper taken back off , dont wanna scratch a nice new bumper now do we

perfect... nows the time to get in there and shine up the engine bay. degreaser ftw! lol... looks good man, have fun with the project.

i love how your car looks. love the drop.. btw what exactly IS the drop? love the hood as well. very nice.

as for advise... i see tons of room for improvement, every part you have lying on the ground can be upgraded or made for the better

have your alternator powdercoated to a color you like (for your car i would say polished or black would look awesome) and if you have plans for a stereo-now is the time to have it beefed up or just buy a bigger alternator and love it

polish up or paint your idi cover

have head ported a little bit or just have it cleaned up and parts replaced like you mentioned already

secret cams

2.3 HO intake manifold and 56mm TB, or have yours bored out to 58mm

TTR upper and lower mounts

Is it me or did you go about the disassembly in no real order. I just started pulling my engine and what is left in is the exact oppisite for me.

most parts lying on the ground are being replaced with new .. example .. head cams, even the block .. i will have more .. pics later if i get to it

as for drop it sits on ground controls ... and stock struts .. dont worry i bought the car like that .. stocker will be fitted with yellow after car is running ,,

i have 2.3 ho intake mani commin also ...

this is my car ... now .. i took the fenders bumper and lights out ... so i woulld damage them .. the corners will be painted



and i know someone is gonna ask about the bird in the back ground .. it belongs to a family in my apt building .. dont them know .. but it looks nice ..

WOW azncav ....... Man youre lucky you are allowed to do repairs in youre complex? My manager or strada, Would freak out, get in crap for my un-insured bacup car in its parking stall. I used to beable to do oil changes in my building. Not any more, Other people wrecked, That for me, Damn I hate living in apartment. Good job on youre cyl head tear down.

oh i fogot to mention,that there two sets of corners. one will be paintd c black inside and one wil be ambe .. both headlights and one pair of corners are actually apart already.

I hope your gona paint that 2.3 manifold lol. You gona port match or use a fontana flange?

And I know its been said before but its crazy that they let you do that in your complex; your realy lucky. I cant even pop my hood without people staring at me and all.

oops hit enter too soon ..

well i finaly got around to painting my headlights . i used duplicolor metalic black.
