just take off the tension bars. u can keep the trunk release. u can still fling it open with 1-2 fingers. im supprise it closes evenly. when i put mine on. it had a buldge on each side.... tooke on of the tension bars off so it didnt fly up that hard... still came up hard and that side fit flush, but the other was buldged. took it off and its fine.
BECAREFUL james warrend me about takin the tension bars out.... when u pop the 2nd one out, have somethign supportin the trunk up... i didnt.... split my thumb wide open when it came down..

Really like the flow of your car ... nice racing vest lol. I'm not a big fan of different colored hoods/trunks though. Dumb newbie question ... but is the reason most people keep their cf hoods (and I guess trunks) black that they can't paint on cf, or is it a stylistic choice?
Nice look Chris. Trunk is sweet. However, from my research and autox experience, I have noticed that individuals that wear such gaudy and awful looking attire tend to be on the order of 3-4 seconds a lap slower than most people who dress like they are straight. To me it looks like something Borat would wear and say "Sexxy Time-a, High fiiv-a!" And he doesn't know how to race. J/K man gotta give you some crap.

welp, you just convinced me to get up off my ass and install my JSP lid on my car, oh my GOD that thing looks tits. the red totally pulls it off and i freaking love it. simply cannot wait to get mine on

i know u said it had line up issues, and u can plainly see that it needs to come down to line up with the tails and the bottom line. u said manta Z has a smaller trunk seal? so you think this will fix it?
what you dremeling on the back of it???
exactly how hard does it fly up? im planning on adding some dynamat and the trunk liner to mine, so im hoping to get away with the bars on the lightest setting and find a happy medium.

i'm keeping it black because i like the contrast. it's a stylistic choice. you can paint over the cf. a lot have.

yes the seal may be the answer, hence why we are trying it and the reason it was sent w/ his lid.
that's sndsgood dremelin. list of dremeled areas:
1. inner tail light holes-holes weren't big enough to fit thru and line up properly
2. bottom corners for the rubber stops-was too think to start the threads of the rubber stop
3. back side where trunk lock goes-too think so clip wouldn't hold the lock in place
4. trunk lock hole-came filled in

well my stock trunk with a factory spoiler weighed 40x lbs. my vis cf trunk weighed 14.x lbs
so almost 30lbs difference.

ok, so i got mine installed last night and im having the exact same issues as you are with the bottom not lining up and the tails just a tad off (too high) i think i can fix this a little better by notching the bolt holes on the latch a little bit, every time i moved the latch up it fit better, but it cant adjust any further. did you get stephan's smaller seal on and did it work?
i too had to remove some material in the center holes for the inner tails to fit properly, as well as open the stud holes quite a bit for them to fit snug. one side still doesnt want to fit correctly and needs a little help.
unfortunatly the corner on the passenger side sticks up about a 1/4" and looks REALLY bad from the side. im wondering if maybe it got warped? do you think if i place something moderatly heavy on that corner over night or maybe for a week that it will go back down where it belong? the gaps are pretty terrible as well, one side being larger then the other, i tried adjusting it, even tried the redneck method of FORCE (pulled the arms in the direction it needed to go) and it didnt do a damn thing
also... is the lightest setting the bottom tab deal on the "3 tab" bracket for the tension bars? because i used the bottom one and the damn thing still flys up like theres absolutly nothing there. i didnt try taking them out completly, but DAMN.. is there some special way of releasing the pressure? i wedged a screw driver in a little hole and popped the end of the bar out of the tab and BOIIIIIIING the damn thing almost hit me in the face, same as the other side. very violent springing action when you take them off.

SOLVED!!!!!! i figured out a FLAWLESS way to be able to keep the torsion bars, and not have the lid fly up like a leaf in a hurricane.
this is what i did:
i took the closest bar to the back of the car off, wedged the end that you rotate and muscle up into the tang into a vise, took a torch and heated up the center of the bar... and slowly twisted it so the end you push into the tang was at little bit of a lesser angle. let it cool down, made sure it was straight.
stuck it on (using the lighest setting), it no longer needed a body builder to push back into place, i did it using one finger, it was still nice n snug though. i got it PEFECT on the first shot!
my lid now opens up nice n slow EXACTLY like stock and stays up!!! THIS WORKED ABSOLUTLY AWESOME, i highly recommend it.
Looks really good... keepin it clean.
In my opinion, with a lower suspension will change the look drastically.
