Launching the Cav into Lake Ontario.. (Many pics)

...okay, not neccessarily. Made for a trick spot to get some update pictures since my car was last posted as stock and red. Wow, it actually has come a long way.. From this >

Tooooooo THIS >>>>

Mods to date:
-Buddy Club II front, shaved in
-Razzi sides, shaved in
-Type-J rear, shaved in (only way to fix the @!#$ fitment issues of that..)
-Shaved C-pillars into quarter panels
-Shaved trunk lock
-Sportlines on KYBs
-Bronzed with polished edge Z24 alloys, Potenza SO-3 'Pole Position' rubberz
-1pc projector/angel eyes chrome, VHT tinted
-Altezza style tails, painted trim, VHT tinted
-Mid-rise black aluminum spoiler (the spoiler stays since more people hate it then like it. Thats my thing)
-Two-toned white/black.. currently white and black primer
-RSM dog-bone lower mount, upper insert
-short ram intake, Ractive Tornado dry cone filter
-Magnaflow muffler, dual wall single tip

To-do list..
-shaved and relocated gas cap in rain trough of trunk
-shaved antenna, BMW shark fin molded into rear, centre of roof
-Sonic the Hedgehog themed vinyl crest on hood.. etc
-WRX STi blue metallic coated rims, polished lip (18s or 19s)
-LED rope light underglow, bright white.
-Uhhhh... lots more..? Sega Genesis install. Screens, interior.. etc.
Sonic Theme, MS paint ftw >>

The crest is actually going on the hood.

I liked this, perhaps still doing the Sonic-cling-to-door thing...

AND! The only Cav to sport the drift-lifted hood. Purpose? In drift applications where engine temps are high, the hood hinges are spaced to break the weather seal at the base of the wiper cowling to the hood, allowing hot air to be sucked out from under the hood. As seen on many competition drift cars. Why did I do it? Because I thought it looked cool. Why the lights? Because I thought it looked cool.

Comments, hate/criticism/spoiler comments and idears wanted.

Agreed, and I don't like stock cars.

Just looks like a 2 year old put your hood on......... looks like it's broken!

Yep. I'm quite the opposite of the 'clean, stock, JDM, sleek, etc' thing. I enjoy my car being like no one elses. This winter it gets the interior stripped, engine pulled and cleaned up/engine bay shaved, exterior finished, painted. Vinyls. New rims. If I wanted stock, I'd have never started this. Showcar status by next season. And yes, it's gonna be wild and almost gaudy.. I have a thing for well-done rice.

BTW, all work so far has been on my own, on the floor of a mechanics shop without any other help. The only things I don't do are window replacement and tint.. otherwise I do all the bodywork, shaving, mechanical, interior work, stereo, etc..

if you got rid of the wing or made it sit on the trunk and got better sides, since those dont match the front at all, then it would look a lot better
and dont do any stupid sonic thing on your car, youre not a rolling advertisement for a 15 year old gaming system

Sad as I had saved that exact pic of when it was "red and stock" as I had loved it. Now I think it plain sucks.

Funny you mention show car, I've only attended 3 shows this year thus far, and have brought home 4 trophies. Your car doesn't have to be absolutely gawdy to gain attention, it's the quality that gains attention. Flat white paint and a @!#$ retardly spaced hood doesn't show @!#$ for quality.

BTW I've done all my work too, with the exception of some bodywork, and actually spraying the car.....so can I have a cookie?

not bad. not a fan of the spoiler(mentioned), hood(mentioned) and the paint lines, but all in all not terrible.

im especially interested in how you molded the urethane! what products did you use?

props on doing your own work as well!

Hood-no,Wing-BIG NO,Sonic theme-You have got to be joking?I liked it when it was red but all in all if you put the hood back to normal and ditched the wing and diff. rims, I would like it much more.JMO

The whole kit, besides the Razzi sides, is fibreglass. Its a knock-off.. thats why I had fitment issues. All fixed up by shaving in.

You all think its done..? White primer = later to be painted. I drive the car home every night after I work on it.. ..its my only car. Everything has to be done bit by bit. I'd say the whole thing is about 1/4 completed.. the exterior 2/3 completed. Need rear fender flares, which I'll mold in to take away from the harsh edge of the rear into the qaurter as well.

As for it being guady.. I'm having a lot of fun doing things you don't see often/at all and I enjoy taking it to where most people wouldn't go with their 'clean' rides. By spring it'll all come together.

As for the Sonic theme.. I've always loved the games. I grew up playing them and I have no problem rocking a themed and bright car. The theme will be carried on from out to in including a Genesis hardwired into the dash.

Dare to be unique? No..? Okay.

i like the molded rear pillars. but please, for the love of god ditch those ventshades.

clear coat needs to be your friend. and sorry, the type-j rear is URATHANE, not fiberglass.

can we see more pics of that front lip on your 95-99 z bumper?

Soundspeed, a shop in Toronto, ON has a FIBREGLASS mold of the Type-J. I 110% gaurentee the rear is fibreglass.. I'm not retarded (perhaps others may think otherwise)..

Front lip? Made out of flexible garden edging. I kid you not. The lights under the hood? Ikea. The white primer? Home Depot. Black suede dash? Fabric Land. I look everywhere for materials/things I can use or modify to take my car further.

I don't mind the kit, but aside from that it's mostly bad taste IMO. The wing, the hood, the paint, the tails, the headlights, your proposed mods etc....

I gotta say... no... I wont... I have agreed with, and laughed at what everyone else has said. I gotta say nothing, my points have been made.

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Wait, I went back and actually read what you wrote. Did you say you were going to do rope lights in lieu of an actually LED kit?

Flip's right, you're a hack.
