Finally bought my first car on my own! Real Beauty!!!

Got eco?

I sure do now!

....Also got a custom roof job!

Mark A. ( 1 Hot J ) Found an ad in Rochester NY's Craig's list for an eco motor w/ 44K miles for $400 bucks. Contacted the seller and asked if it was a totaled car and if so i was extremely interested for the whole car. It was an 03 sedan that had rolled over. He's doing a rebuild on another car needed the front cradle from this one and a few other parts i wasn't going to really need right away. So i Sparked a deal with him, $1,165 I get

* 2.2 Ecotec + auto tranny with 40,XXX miles
* Engine wireing harness and ECU, PCM
* Fuel lines
* Power Steering rack and lines so i won't have to extend my old ones.
* Exhaust manifold and cat back.
* Whole vehicle From the strut towers back plus complete interior + wiring harness ( Minus air bags { i got my stock ones})

... Delivered to the RDFABS shop via flat bed.

I finally came to the realization that the money i was going to shell out for the 03 Bmw 330 CI i wanted ( $24,899 w/ 45K miles) i could tear my J apart do an eco swap and make it faster than that car i would be making payments on for another 5 yrs. I guess everyone goes through the wanting to sell their J phase...

...anyways...

I needed the whole vehicle so i can gut mine and swap pretty much everything from the totaled one into the Nity9 cav since its a 99, but lucky for me the evap canister is behind the gas tank so i won't have any fuel issues with the swap. The engine ran find today and no odd noises, so before it goes into my car its going to get a full tear down and build up since i don't want to be blowing ring lands apart from what is going to be added the new engine.

C&C always welcomed.

Why do you think you have to replace the rack?

Nice pick up.

Mines all rusted to @!#$ from salt on the road and being almost 9 years old... This new one looked mint including all the lines. Also i read somewhere i would have to extend my stock ones to reach if i didn't. With what i have on my plate making things easier is a bonus!

hell yeah man, welcome to the club! Please do yourself a favor and clean that motor REALLY well, if you don't spend the extra time on it now you will regret it later. Polish that bitch up and it will look awesome with that RDFabs intake I know your going to put on it.

The condition of the engine really made me thing about not buying it to begin with, as it need ALOT of love. But I do have every intention of when i pull this its going to be scrubbed and then send to a machine shop to get acid dipped and cleaned. Also some head work and to be nicely built up. Since no one else is coming forwards for our nice free intake offer for the eco super charger intake, i am going to come forwards and have it done to my car....

* wink wink....

Sorry to my Notec OHV brethern.... She's been very reliable and good to me, but if i want to stay in the game at car shows next to Chris (agentomega), Ryan H and Ryan D. who all have fully built cars and engines now with big turbo pushing a lot of power and a lot of custom work. This is my way of being different and still having a nice amount of power.

The thing is you do not have to extend any power steering lines. All J-body racks are in the same spot, as well the hook ups. Only big difference being where the lines run from (aka power steering pump). As long as you have the Ecotec power steering pump and the line for it you are good.

Now if your rack is rusted up etc... I understand. I was just trying to be clear on why you were changing it. You will benefit from a little better turning ratio.

pretty sure my 01 rack had a diffrent routing (reversed) i think from the 05 i put in. 01 was i think 3-4x longer line then the 05 05 went right to were i hooked up to, the 01 went out and around and back, i may have been able to use it, but it was much cleaner with the 05 rack.

Well this car will never ever see a winter again, so once i clean it all up and everything it should never come back again. But jesus, my 99 2200 never looked that bad. Interesting....

But thanks for the kind words fellas.
