What did you use in order for it to look as smooth as the new paint on that trunk lid you will need to wet sand it with 2000 grit and then clearcoat them. I have never tried it with the rattle can clear since it is not the same quality as the professional automotive grade clearcoat. When I did mine after nightshading them and wet sanding with 2000 grit I had the shop that does my paint work just clear them the next time he painted something. The 20 bucks I spent to have them professionally cleared was well worth it..

my question is how bright are the brake lights when you step on the brake
regardless of whether or not your dad is a cop, if someone rear-ends you because they cannot see your brake-lights clearly enough will still get you a ticket, and may screw you out of insurance money
not that it doesn't look good, but you gotta cover your ass just in case

Someone local to me has it done, it looks great and the brightness of the brakes is only limited slighly.

It's not hard. Just clean the lights up real good, then spray with light, even coats. Wait a few minutes between coats, and then do the next. When you get to the desired darkness, let it dry for about an hour or so, then do a few coats of clear. Let it dry overnight, and then give it a good hand buffing.
