heres an update, I got the dash about ready for primer.... unless I decide to add a gauge panel or do away with gauges... since it will be just a showcar. and the subs will be switched over to 12"s. Any opinions on what to do diff,?

Love the Dash, that's what I had in mind for my next project (minitruck).

Could you show some of the frame work/etc.?

Thanks!!!

lookin good. keep it nice and simple and smooth.

maybe you could put a big ass screen in the dash on the pass side. hell you could even use a regular flatscreen or computer monitor and have some goodies hooked up and hidden under the rear ledge/seat. that would be nice

I have to give you props on how far your quality of work has come, even since you first started this car.

It's looking very nice. I can't wait to see this finished.

I only ask that you don't throw cheap generic audio equipment in it this time.

I think you should do a motorized LCD from the dash... hidden while driving and pops up at shows. Like a 26" or 32". Looks good so far though!

don't you have cyberdyne gauages? I say use those and only those on the dash. don't do anything fancy and put them off to the side or in the center. Just put them infront of the steering wheel closer to the back portion of the dash. A nice clean gauge cluster would be perfect!!!!

There was a really clean looking 60's Impala at Barrett Jackson a few months ago, it reminded me of your car. Maybe you will find this inspiring.

As for the rest of the dash, the new 08 Cadillac CTS has a very unique pop-up information thing. Check out this video if you haven't seen it yet.

Just my two cents on the whole thing, keep up the good work!

i like the idea of having anything that you put in the dash as a flip out. if you do gauges, mount them to the inside of the dash so they flip out when driving and go back into the dash when you arent (think flip up headlights)

well i need some opinions................. im not that close yet but I cant help to start thinking of paint. Their is this company I met at SEMA show in las vegas, called alsa. They specialize in custom paint. They did a lamborgini (sp) for 50 cent in their new paint which is called mira chrome. And it really does look like real chrome. Ive seen a lot of companys try to do this and nobody has pulled it off, but This company did. Its $1,600 just for paint. Its a crap load of money for paint, Im really temting to do this. I think chrome wheels with chrome paint on the outside and inside would look just nuts. And I have the idea of getting my windsheild cut with mirror lexan plexi.? Does anybody think i should go another route?

Dont park in direct sunlight then...and invest stock in chrome polish

Re: update-

Alsa has been around for a good while, and they have some very nice products. The shop I recently worked for had experience with their chrome and soft feel paints. They weren't as pleased with the chrome paints, but I was very impressed with their soft feel paint. I have been looking into Alsa paints for the rebuild of my car.

i can't wait to see what the final product is. the chrome on chrome would be very different and you could possibly pull it off. with the quality of your car i think no matter what you do, you'll do it right and it will look bomb.

x2 on the motorized whatever idea though. motorized products in cars like that (screens..etc) makes cars look so much more classy and custom.
Re: update-

the only downside to chrome paint and everyone is that you'll have to be picky as to color something is when your putting it in. if that makes sense.. to me it does i guess.. haha..
Re: update-

i like the idea of a mirrored WS if you go with the rest. what about a double sided mirror? you can see out but you cant see in? might make for an interesting piece anyway. and since you arent driving this you wont have to worry about the reflection causing problems to other drivers.

Re: update-

I doubt the chrome paint and chrome rims would look much like one another and might actually clash. I haven't seen the paint tho

Re: update-
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 11:29 AM
yeah..I was thinkin the same thing..

Re: update-
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 4:02 PM
dont think im feeling the chrome paint, just doesnt look like a good show color to me personally.

as for the dash i think if you cut out a long oval something small that matches the one on your rear deck area that you can mount the gauges behind so they arnt really popping out and ruining the flow of the dash. so someone looking down into it will see a nice flowing dash but when your sitting in the car you can see the gaugessome what back inside the opening a bit. would look nice.

thats just nuts dude. I can;t beleive the ammount of work you've done this winter. the windshield idea sounds really cool. I also like the flip up gauges idea.
