^yeah i was gonna add it to my previous thread but I wanted to freak people out with the title "single cam LD9" just thought it was funny..
I thought the intake cam had more of a diff. over the twin cam?
GMR has got nothing on this
the exhaust cam is actually the bigger one of the two in terms of the 'secret cams' over the stockers....
stock LD9 intake - 198 degrees @ .050" with .354" lift
stock LD9 exhaust - 187 degrees @ .050" with .346" lift for the exhaust
secret intake (95 2.3) - 200 degrees @ .050" with .360" lift
secret exhaust (90-94 LO 2.3) - 200 degrees @ .050" with .375" lift
you gain 2 degrees of duration and .006" of lift over stock with the 'secret' intake and you gain 13 degrees of duration and .029" of lift over stock with the 'secret' exhaust.
wow I guess I just took in the info wrong since its harder to acquire the intake cam so i took it the intake cam made more of a diff. THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!! Now I want that dam exhaust cam.
Just to clarify part number @ autozone is--------->MC832......right?
GMR has got nothing on this
well the only reason the intake cam is the harder one to get/find is because you can only buy it brand new from GM itself, that and the fact it was only in that one year engine, 1995.
unsure on the part number, im sure its in the sticky somewhere though...
i bought my exhaust cam brand new from a local parts house for $114.00. the thing is though, you really should pop and get all new lifters to, especially for a brand new cam. unless you have all the lifters that were used on the intake cam in the exact order they were used i would recommend getting new ones for it as well. these can be pretty spendy though...
yes unless u have the exact same lifters that were used on the old intake cam and install them in the same order...u will have premature wear on ur new cam. i'd get new lifters for a new cam. or it will wear..
DOHC..........get back on our SA board, Scott from Austin has an extra cam for ya if he didnt sell it yet. oh and I had the "secret cam" in the 4 door (exhaust cam only) and it would pull a 2 door with same mods by about a car length.
well I was actually gonna use the same cam lifters and i also forgot what order they go, the lifters are pricey so Im using some cam lube grease to help break in the NEW cams so i can avoid buying new ones
GMR has got nothing on this
I would get new ones but thats up to you.
no amount of cam lube is going to save those brand new lobes on the cam... see what the deal is the old lifters have already been broken into the lobes of the old cam, you put the old lifters that are broken in, in with the new cam and you run a big risk of pre-maturely wearing the lobes, some in-fact could be completely gone. ive seen it done before, old lifters and brand new cam-the cam lasted a week, pulled it out and all the lobes were gone.
trust us, please dont skimp out on this important piece of the puzzle man... i mean after all you've spent literally thousands of dollars on this engine, why do you want to go the cheap route now?
yeah I know I need to get some new ones....your right....I'll add them to my list. Where are they cheaper? Autozone has them for 12 bucks each.
