New engine for the Twin Charged Jbody.. and possible car for sale...
Tuesday, May 20, 2008 10:22 PM
Well here are the pictures of my engine build for the twin charged set up. Every last part I could get has pretty well gone into this engine, other than cams which are just stock cams still. But as much as I am just finishing getting it done and where i wanted it, I have been considering selling it at the end of this season as it would make things easier money wise with the purchase of another car.
Any way on with the specs of the engine

- Wisco 9:1 pistons
- Eagle rods
- ARP rod bolts
- ARP main studs
- ARP head studs
- JBP oil pump
- Cometic head gasket
- Port and polished head
- Stainless steel valves

And for machine work:
- Deck milled
- Cylinders are bored .020"
- line honed
- crank all polished up

I know Cometic says install dry, but the engine builder who is building my dads 800hp GNX engine says he uses this spray on all their cometic head gaskets including the ones going on my dads engine so I figured i would as well

Not the nicest down pipe ever but it works

that is all for now....

Get that in the engine bay, get it tuned, and get it to a dyno. Those are not suggestions, I wanna know what this thing can do.

That looks like it is going to be a PITA wiggling that big thing in there.Maybe not so bad considering you have done this before.

The outside of the block looks good.

What size sc pulley are you going to be running? You made no mention of sc or turbo specs. Details please.

I am really surprised to see you are keeping the stock cams.

I am looking forward to seeing the dyno results as well.

I thought you bought a built 2.4 last year and put in? What happened to that? What about valve train parts? Stock?

I know you probably have explained this plenty of times, but how will this set-up work?

I would think that the Supercharger would just be a bottle neck. the presurized air can only go into the supercharger as fast as the supercharger can pull it in correct? So is the supercharger capable of creating the same PSI as the turbo? If not, what is the point? Being that the supercharger will be creating boost sooner than the turbo will this pull air through the filter on the turbo even when the hot size hasnt spooled up? I guess I am just curious how this will all work...

Bad ass build man!

all i can say about the pistons is thank you Karo .....
and no cams because as it is it has a hard time running with any kind of a miss with the light weight flywheel and so i didnt want to get more problems... plus i want it to sound as close to stock as possible other wise i would have gone extreme lift with them lol

hoping for this week end... only takes me a day to put it all in and get it going... then i just have to break it all in..

all i am going to say is yes it works.. i have only gone over it about 1000 times on here... check back on my old posts... not even close to being a bottle neck

John Higgins wrote:What about the built motor you bought last year?

oh god that motor was less then @!#$... arrived to me full of sand, didn't have the chain that goes from the crank to the balanced shafts, didn't have gaskets in it, valves were to long (aka would never have closed), half the lifters were rusted in place, there is a list so long of the problems that engine had i could make a separate post on just that, and i am very tempted to name the user on here that sold this engine to me as a "drop in and go engine" he @!#$ me over so bad on this....So i tore it all apart, machined it all and built it back up and put it in a car that i am actually selling right now, all forged internals, 9.7:1 compression good for any one looking to add boost (lots more parts in that engine too, thats just to name a few)

Wade Jarvis wrote:What size sc pulley are you going to be running? You made no mention of sc or turbo specs. Details please.

I am currently running the stock 2.8" s/c'er pulley and probably will stick with that. The supercharger has been ported as well.
The turbo is a T3/T4E 60 trim with a stage III turbine wheel and a .63 A/R i believe (its been 3+ years since i bought the turbo but i think that was the one i got)
