Yesterday my brother and I decided to clean up my mother's car for her. Seeing as how my brother runs a detailing business, and I work for him in that business, we obviously have the skills and knowledge to do an awsome job.
The car in question here is a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire GT. It only has 39,500km. It is black with 16" factory chrome rims. Fully loaded; only missing the OnStar. It had recent bodywork at the end of March/beginning of April, so we had to wait a while before we could get it all cleaned up.
I wont tell you where the bodywork was done, but instead let's see if any of you guys can guess. It hadn't been waxed all year if I remember correctly, so it was looking quite rough. The chrome rims were brown, but they at least had some protection on them as I had polished them before they went back on the car for the summer. The inside wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too good either. Hand prints on the windows, stuff all over the carpet, centre console was filled with crap (didn't take pictures). My sister drives the car and she is a slob, so I wasn't too surprised.
Anyways, on to the before and afters:
Before:
After:
...and yes, I needed to take that many pictures.
We might get the dremel out and polish up the valve cover sometime this summer since we're keeping this car (lease is up next month and we're buying it).
What we did (in order):
Outside:
-Engine shampoo: put bags over the computer and fuse panel; sprayed it down with Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser; pressure-washed; dried off using a rag and compressed air; conditioned the plastic using an old bottle of Meguiar's Lustre Shine
-Washed the car down with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Car wash
-Clay bared the car using Meguiar's Detailer's Clay
-Buffed a couple scratches out using Meguiar's #82 (can't remember the name) and a high-speed buffer
-Applied Meguiar's #82 (can't remember the name) to the whole car using the Meguiar's Dual Action Polisher
-Applied Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze
-Applied Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant
-Polished the chrome rims and chrome exhaust outlets using Eagle 1 Nano polish (We needed something stronger because the rims tend to discolour in the corners)
-Applied Meguiar's Plastix to the headlights
-Applied Rain-X to the front windshield
-Cleaned the windows (inside and out) using Meguiar's Detailer Series Professional Window Cleaner (this stuff smells awsome by the way)
-Applied Meguiar's NXT Tech Protectant to the tires as dressing
Inside:
-Vacuumed the interior and trunk
-Wiped all trim down with a damp terry-towel, and cleaned the cracks with a paint brush
-Conditioned all plastics using Meguiar's #40 Vinyl and Rubber Conditioner
-Cleaned rubber mats using pressure washer, Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner, and a carpet brush
-Sprayed some Vanilla air freshener
To do all this to a customer car, it would probably be over $300. What we did was basically an Elite package minus carpet shampoo, but with scratch removal. On a car the Elite alone would be $229 I believe plus the extra cost of removing scratches.
Made me miss my car. Looking good.
they look like polished aluminum wheels to me. haha
car looks good, how about some daytime shots? what kind of buffer did you use?
im a detailer in myrtle beach, i always like to see why people do what they do.
why the plastix on the lights so soon? make sure you wax the headlights, well or they may discolor/fog up.
get some hyper dressing, and silicone free dressing, those smell good too
Looks pretty good, I'm a detailer as well, with my own shop. I'm super picky myself, but I won't pick out things I noticed!! Seriously though, for having black paint, the polish looks really good, curious too see daytime shots too.
I think we need more pics to be tottally honest, these pics arent enough.

The green Sunfire, nicknamed "The Racecar", and the G5 GT are both my brother's cars.
I was going to cut the pictures down, but I was like "Meh. Whatever..."
Anyone else notice the "GT" badges on the black fire? Didn't know there was such a thing...must be one of those canadian things...
