My New Addition
Tuesday, July 15, 2008 9:14 AM
I decided to buy a daily driver to limit 'unnecessary' driving on the boosted toy

Going to be giving it a good detailing inside and out and remove the pinstripe. Its going to be staying stock really. Might put an intake on it and the rims will be changed eventually but I don't plan on modding it.

Its an 04 5spd base with a sunroof, ac & a tach...

I'd turn the OHV into the daily, Nice car anyway.

A pre-03 trunk is a definate mod for that car. My 03' looks a hell of alot better with it.

Agreed !!! The Cavfire is nice......Ecotec FTW !!!!

The OHV is only missing rods/pistons to be completly built so I can put down some big numbers with it... No turning back now

As far as the trunk, I debated it... I still have the stock trunk off my 02, however it has the LS spoiler, and Im kind of liking the no-wing look on the 04. If I feel like filling in the holes and repainting it and buying a set of tails for it, I might... but I'm in no rush. Was also thinking about painting the red bar black, other than the 4 circles on the actual tail light part.

When I get new rims/tires for the 02 I will probably be transferring the 15s onto the 04 as well.

This weekend I plan on cleaning it inside and out, waxing it, and removing that pinstripe... May paint the hubs black as well for now...

Im assuming you meant to say its better with the L61 boosted...?

I am sticking with my boosted 2200... I want to see what I can get out of it and I have also already gone this far with it. Its proven to me it has potential. Once I get rods & pistons and a few other "small" things it will be ready to really throw down

I think you need a new camera in the WORST way These pictures remind me of way back in the day when we had to scan pictures because nobody had a digital camera.

I still have some settings on the cam I need to play around with, it does ok considering i payed 50$ for it, lol. I have other things I need to spend my money on, I figured it was better than nothing.

I third this motion...

Just being honest. I would rather build an Eco than an OHV.

The way I see it, why drop what I have done to the OHV and start with a stock eco... The OHV has a fully built head and the block only needs pistons/rods to be fully built... At that point the whole motor is ready for me to test it out with much more boost than im running now or would be on the Eco... Not to mention the parts I'd need to change on my turbo set-up to fit the Eco...

After the time/money speant into the 2200, I would be back tracking ALOT just to swap which one I have boosted.

Not only that but I want to see how far I can push the 2200....

And my next project for the 02, if/when im done with the OHV is a S/C 3800 lightly built... or possibly a full out N/A eco build.... Eco would be easier than the 3800 by a long shot... but I have a thing for the 3800s in 3rd gens

Leave the poor girl and her 2200 pushrod technology alone .

I like the new addition!

Hehe It doesnt bother me, I <3 it either way.

Ty, I like it too Dont mind driving an Eco base model... does feel a bit "peppier" than the LS Sport I drove a few years ago, that was practically brand new...

This one I bought with 66k miles on it.

Is the '03 trunk lid the one with the big nasty looking red bar across it? If so, I agree, that sh*ts gotta go.

Yea its the 03-05 Cavs...

It may get painted black, or get my 02's old trunk lid, however im in no rush...

Put the fiberglass trunk lid from the 02 on the new one, and put a CF trunk lid and hood on the 02 cav. Both cars will be your best friend.

Few reasons why I wont do that... The fiberglass trunk has holes for my SS wing that I dont feel like filling in, and I want the weight reduction from that on the 02. I also dont feel like buying a carbon fiber trunk. Last thing, I want to keep the inner tails on the 04, and keep the 02 with a different look to it Last thing I need is to buy another trunk, and have 2 in my living room

Great pick up Jess!
Now maybe you'll be able to put less stress on the turbo car while you finish it.
Good luck with it... and i 2nd the painted rear stripe!

nope I meant exactly what i said fetter with the ld9 boosted. Brandon or brian fetter built a machine of a 2.4 that was boosted and what an animal. assuming is something al sharpton does, and hes usually wrong as well :-)

Just as a thought, how about a tinted Sunfire rear bezel? It'd be a little different look and take a bit less work on the lid itself.

Love for both cars myself. 2200 is a great engine, just not what most [obviously] would prefer to build from, but not everyone was lucky enough to start with an LD9 or Eco either.

I have an 04 base coupe too. Though I bought mine new in 04 for $10,720 and presently it only has 16,2xx on it

Thanks Jess, and yea, I didnt want to stress out the 02 more while I fine-tune it and work on some other things with it... I want to take my time with it

I was confused because bringing up the LD9 was random, and then you said Ecotecs own so I wasnt sure what you were trying to say...

Haha yes you did.... And yea that 02 LS Sport I was looking at was red. But had almost 80k on it and was slightly modded - I wanted to stray away from buying one that was modded... also 80k was a lil too much considering I bought this one for the same price that one was

It may get some slight mods, however nothing like my 02 is... I plan on putting an intake on and maybe some light exterior mods...

However with the 02 not being near finished to where I want it, thats where my car mods will be headed
