Well while at AutoZone today for some more Freon (my A/C sucks, but its a vert so I don't really use it! lol) I saw the caliper paint was cheap, 7 bucks, and I've always wanted to paint 'em, so I decided what the hell. Well 7 bucks of spray paint and an hour of work paid off nicely
they look good, not bright and gaudy like some I've seen, just a nice subtle touch. Next I'll be painting the strut bar red too, I saw that on another Cav and really liked it, plus I've got plenty of paint left
enough of my blabbing, here's the pics (only cell phone pics, I was too lazy to go in and get my good camera, and my hands were filthy too)

and heres some other shots of my filler plate that I finished last week with some red vinyl letters and a gloss black rattle-can
pardon my leg

red calipers are bad, hell I had big brakes all the way around and paid extra to have them black.
And you didn't put freon in your car, your car doesn't use freon.
Like the look, I plan on painting mine in a few weeks.
I like em, but the dupli color brush on caliper paint is well worth it, and pretty inexpensive too. I think about $15-$17.
Its a pain in the ass. I did mine a longgg time ago they look like complete ass and don't have any time to redo them...
They will look ok for a couple months though

^^^Yep. I used Black dupli-color brush on caliper paint on mine, & they have held up great for 3-4 years now.
Your prep job was nice, looks like they turned out good so far.

Just finished mine in blue....3-4 years would be great if it lasts that long..!
I did mine in black when i replaced my Calipers
Still going strong after a year and about 3000 K on the Car
at this rate it will last 10 years
yay for stock brakes
why not just remove the caliper?

as do I
lol
sorry it was the first thing I thought of when I saw this post
thanks for the comments guys. They had the brush on kind too, but this was cheaper and easier. lol I wanted a change from the stock, ugly look, and black just wasn't gonna do it for me
lol it'll probably start to look like garbage after a few thousand miles, but hey, I'll just give 'em a new coat of paint and we're good to go

honestly, what I would have done is taken them off the car all together. Cleaned them and then taken a wire wheel to them to get them as smooth as possible. Then I would have figured out something to sand them down with, maybe a grinder to get out the roughness. Then I would have painted them. The fact of the matter is if it was dirty the paint it just going to flake faster.
Is powder coating an option here?

This man speaks the truth. I know a few peeps with the brush on kits, and it last a ton longer then any high temp spray I have seen. I have even thinned the brush on caliper paint and sprayed it on a few valve covers

The dupli color brush on is thick enough to fill in the pores, level out, and gives it a 90% smooth look without all the hassle.

I did grind 'em down with a wire wheel actually, so there was some actual prep work here. I just didn't want to hassle with taking the calipers themselves off. when this paint goes, I'll probably invest the extra 10 bucks, get the brush on kind, and actually take the calipers off. but for now, they look good and I'm happy with 'em.
