Thinking to myself over the past few months, do I really want to continue to modify my car? Tempted as always, the quest to dump money into the car for the sole purpose of modifying has left. Now, its only to make the car run better and perform a lot better than GM ever thought possible.
With that said, the old pacemaker that gave life to the motor was in need of being changed. It works great, but there is always something better out there. The old set-up:

The motor is loving the new pacemaker courtesy of MSD. Best $200 I ever spent to make her run more efficient. And that is a new IDI cover too ... more sanding and polishing still to do, but not half bad for three hours at 400 grit.
What's coming next? Maybe some new brakes ... or a whole new car. Thanks to the guys who posted up the write-up on this mod ... defintely worth the time and effort spent researching it and putting it all together. The org never ceases to bring some new ideas to the table in modifying the classic GM LD9.

So far it has been working out for me. I don't get the spark hickups in the top of third gear anymore and she starts up nice and smooth every morning. The real task will be the dead of winter start ups when I put her into storage. We'll see then how the car likes the new ignition system.
It is definitely a great mod to do.
