Let me know how the alternator works for you. I'm having problems with my brother's '98 that I swapped the W41 in..... I cant seem to keep the 2.3 alternator charging. I thought it might have something to do with it being from the OBD-1 vs OBD-2 (I spliced it in just like I did on the OBD-1 '95 harness, and that one worked fine.....)

To run the older alternator, basically it only needs 1 wire to run it, so thats how I wired it in. Disregard the other wires. Brad can tell you which terminals need to be spliced.

damn you.

I'll check tomorrow if we have an alt in stock for the W41. but ya, it is only one wire required GENERALLY. the one wire for there is only cause of the part where the cluster only has a warning light and not the gauge. if it was a gauge, then you would need all three plugged in.

Well got everything done today, filled it with coolant and started it. Ran fine for about 3-4 minutes, then... Power steering fluid EVERYWHERE. The fitting I got for the pressure line wont work, so I need to pick up a 2.4L pressure line tomorrow and replace it with that. Didnt see any coolant leaks, so atleast thats good

Well got the power steering line installed. Filled it with coolant and ran it for about 15 minutes while bleeding the coolant. Seems to be bleeding, but the problem is that the fan isnt coming on. Im gonna have to get Chris over and get HPT hooked up, see whats going on.

Well got the coolant bled, but now, everytime the fan turns on, the car shuts off. So I gotta track down the cause of that.
Got a couple pics of the compression line for the power steering.

It is rubbing against the axle right now, but I am going to move it out of the way.

And a video of it running while bleeding the coolant system.

Well after trying god knows how many things to fix the problem (jumping relays, replacing power and ground wires, checking voltage drops), Im happy to say that the problem is solved
All thats left now is a knock sensor code. It comes on even when the car is in the run position and not running. So thats something I will have to look into. Aside from that, we are good to go. I just need to paint the intake tubing, repaint a few spots in the engine bay, do a final alignment on the hood pins, install the front end and it will be good for a test drive.
