My 1996 Cavalier

I have been a member here a little more than a month now and haven't posted any pics of my Cav. This was my first car, and instead of letting it go to waste I am turning it into a project. (I'm the kid working on the 3100 swap. BTW, engine rebuild should be done by mid to late Dec)

Anyway... this is how she sits now. American Racing wheels... changed the tails... I also have the halo headlights. I would show pics of the interior but I just ripped out the console and dash. The dash was sanded/primed... the console, will be soon. Everything is pretty much a WIP right now. Before I put it back in i'm getting new carpet... I am the 3rd owner of this car so... it was abused... bad... before I got it.

    Current:
    • Pioneer CD player
    • MTX Audio mid/highs in doors
    • Kenwood 6"x9"s in rear
    • 2 Kenwood amps, one 1000w class D, one 400w for mid/high
    • Audiobahn 10" (HUGE 10" speaker btw...)
    • 17" American Racing Wheels
    • White guages
    • coming soon... 3100 engine swap, body kit, painted interior, and new paint!

I was thinking of painting some of the engine parts before I put it back together... but as you can see.. My Cav is that odd blue/green color. Hoping I can find some high heat paint that matches... I'm also keeping the stock color of the car when I get the body kit. I think its unique enough... I've only seen one other Cav in my town with a color similar to this... and its more blue than mine. When it stops raining I may take more pics and show progress of the painting...

I don't want to turn this thread into a 'YOU'RE A RICER' thread.

That's pure opinion and I feel that anyone who wants to modifty their car a bit shouldn't just be dubbed, "Ricer." There is nothing on my car but rims and tails... No rice there IMO. Engine swapping a V6... not ricing ... (imo) I don't think a body kit makes my car go faster......... or any of those other "Ricer" signs...

A car can not LOOK fast...... looks and performance have nothing to do with each other... Ricer, or non-ricer.

Anyway. . . The reason i'm doing this 3100 is because it was free and this is also my first engine build. My uncle and dad are mechanics and have built their own hot rods and are helping me along the way. Maybe if the 3100 install goes great I can save up some $$$ for a 3400.

Does anyone have a suggestion on the type of paint to use on the engine parts?

put the stock tails back in the tezzas just kill the look of the car . shave the emblems and side moldings, lower ASAP, color match the handel's and mirror's (not the mirros sails) body kit and don't worrie about color matching the eng find a color that accents it well and paint the eng parts that color.JMO casual clean mods wil get you far on the JBO. just don't go crazy and attach a body kit and throw a shopping cart wing with an annoying fart cannon on a stock exhaust and you'll be good.

I agree with Ghostz about the tails. Put the originals back on. I think the mirrors look good as is, they just need to be polished up. I use just regular car wax on mine to give them that factory new shine.
