Bad Headgasket Tear down...so I thought..(56k i hope no one still has it)

Well.. a while ago when i was putting in a CAI in the ol' 2200 I found gunk on the dip stick!

So I took my car to my good friends house log into work and then began to tear down the engine to replace the headgasket

Now we started to drank the gunk oil...

There was no Damn gunk, Then what the hell is on my stick?
Something Is wrong here, We drained the coolant, No gunk
We took off the Dip stick and the Tube that goes to the engine ( don't kno the correct term for that)

it was only in the tube... and on the dip stick!
We took off the Vavle cover to be sure.. Nothing there either

We cleaned it off and then replaced the vavle cover gasket...
Before we out everything back together i had to know what was going on,
I called a few shops and the chevy dealership, they said i may need to replace the dip stick due to condensation?
I think 3 out of the 5 places said that, i never heard of that. so i got a new one and put the engine back togther.

Been Cranking around town for about a day now with no issues..
saved me a lot of time and money... now i can start on the next project!

That tear down was pointless. I see it all the time on cars. Should of asked before taking matters in your own hands and wasting your time.

looks more like you replaced the valve cover gasket rather then the headgasket

No, didn't even get that far before we reliezed it wasn't the head gasket, it was still a waste of time tearing all that crap off, he atleast i learned something new. I ended up replacing just the vavle cover gasket, it was Sh**** anyway.
