My motor
Saturday, January 10, 2009 12:52 PM
Well here is a pic of my motor all painted. I had it all apart getting rebuilt so i figured i might as well paint it. The valve cover I stripped sanded and polished and then painted the blue stripes. i know it is not the best in the world but it cost me 20 bucks and looks a hell of a lot better than factory IMO. The only downside, I didnt polish the timing cover which I will probably do since it is still easily accessible. the intake on the other hand seems a little more tricky. If you don't like it fine, but i thought i needed pics on here. O and I am going to paint the engine compartment black before droping the motor back in. Thanks guys.

well i ordered a header that i thought would look better than the stock rusty manifold, but it isnt the right one. So if anyone needs a header for and 03+ 2.2 eco then i have one. This is why I haven't ever wanted to buy off of ebay. Any other ideas on anything under the hood i should accent? i will probably do some wire loom and buy and paint a strut tower bar. Any ideas welcome.

A polished strut bar would look good under there. Other than that I think you have everything covered.

You can call that polished all you want but it is not. Still way to rough to be anywhere near polished.

its polished as well as i could get it. And I would think since I used aluminum polish and a polishing ball that it is polished. it may not be a very refined form, but polished none the less.

yeah I don't think I would have painted the entire area where your exhaust manifold mounts to.

the reason its not polished is because you did not sand it to a high enought grit paper before you started polishing it.......

looks good but i would take a wire wheel to around the exhaust ports so it seals......

Yeah the exhaust ports are an issue that I have already had fun with. I had rhe motor in the back at work and a now ex employee, for various reasons, decided to help me paint some of I am going to redo the valve cover wednesday when I have more funding, see if i cant do a better job. thanks.
