Mini Photo Shoot...
Tuesday, February 17, 2009 12:49 PM
Had the day off work and got really bored... so I figured it being a nice day out and all I should clean the car up a bit and take a couple pictures. Hadnt taken any new pics since I put the HID's in either... so it gave me a bit of a chance to show them off too...

I know the car needs some work ie. the fenders, front bumper, and hood dont fit quite right and theres some rust that needs taking care of... and I also know that it needs to be lowered... TERRIBLY! but unfortunately the funds just arent there right now...

Anyways... on with the pics...

And just some engine bay shots I thought turned out pretty cool...

I know the majority of the pics turned out like crap... Im no proffesional photographer...

But thanks for looking... let me know what you guys think...

Just stop right there.

Stop putting money into that thing.

You've got 2 colors of green, nothing lines up, not to mention the rust on both passenger side doors.

Its not a GT

Your trying to polish a turd and nothings going to help.

Holy Hell that thing sits up high!!! I absolutely love that color though! Overall I like it!

I'm not a fan of the fenders or the window visors; I say ditch those two things, lower it, get some evil eyes, paint the doors handles to match, get rid of the side moldings, get a short antenna and ditch the spoiler and it will be perfection IMO . Just my .02 though.

Sunfire Sedans FTW!

holy @!#$ you really need to drop it...................... The fender looks really out of place especially with the paint not matching and the bumper looks bad because its not lined up.

In my opinion I would say start cleaning that thing up before you do any modifications to it. I do like the rims though.

thanks guys... i know nothing lines up quite right... once it gets a bit warmer out i will start fooling around with it again... the fenders were a very cheap replacement for some badly rusted ones that were on the car... and the bumper needs to be replaced... but all in all... its getting there...

and i know im just trying to polish a turd... but its kinda hard to find a 4 door 5 speed around here in decent shape for a decent price...

Get a paint job and quality lowering setup and it won't be that bad. Just never open the hood again.

I agree. If stuff needs to be replaced, than go ahead and replace it before adding anything else.

Perfect example: I have a pretty good amount of money saved up right now which I could easily use to keep doing more stuff to my Sunfire Sedan, but instead the money's going to replace my suspension because my struts are shot and they need to be replaced before I move on to anything else.

It's your turd and if you love it that's all that matters! To a lot of people, J-Bodies in general are considered turds no matter how nice they might be. Just worry about whether you're happy with it or not. Personally I think you're off to a great start, just get the exterior stuff buttoned up and get it lowered (the right way) and it will be a great looking Sedan!

dude that engine bay looks like it has a @!#$ load of rust the fenders look real bad (misalligned) i like the rims though seems like that car needs a whole lot of tlc just my 2 cents

Re: Mini Photo Shoot...

yes it does need some work... and ive been saving up to try and replace the struts... but i figured since im replacing the struts i might aswell go with some nice lowering stuff... and i will be doing it the right way...

once summer hits i plan on cleaning up the body and maybe getting some new fenders and a bumper... and quite possibly a paint job... money is really tight so im trying to make the suspension priority before i end up driving the thing of the road cause it wont handle...

Well I cant say anything that hasnt been said already. It seems like you know what you have to do in making it look better. My suggestions below(no particular order)

Take the fenders off and put stock back on
Paint the car
Put some lowering springs on
Add some MSD ignition to compliment your sticker
Dont ever take pics of your engine bay again until you clean that area up ALOT

If you're wanting to lower it than you will definitely be better off just saving and getting the lowering stuff and doing it the right way the first time.

Do you know what setup you want to get yet? Since you're on a budget, you may want to check out KYB AGX struts and Eibach Pro Kit springs. This setup is cheap (in price), but a very good quality setup. This is what I have and it's low enough to look good, but it rides only slightly rougher than stock and handles great. You can find great deals on both the struts and springs on eBay.

here is your immediate first steps: fix rust, color match handles/mirrors, oem fenders, get rid of hood pins and suspension like this...

then, if you really want something nice, put an ecotec in there and paint the bish black like this...

i respect you for having the WILL for this. have a plan for your car and make a list. don't ebay too much, save money for good stuff.
i know how you feel cuz am broke too being in college. good luck!

photoshop FTW.

its all been said but i need to add..

take your time on the mods you do. every time you go that extra mile its going to add up. from the looks of it your modding this thing like most kids do, fast and un-organized. speed is good for a car, but in this case, the exact opposite. you need to slow down and look at the big picture.
