What I've been up to lately.
Thursday, March 19, 2009 7:43 AM
My cavy is going down hill fast on the exterior due to rust so I have decided to focus my attention mostly on the interior instead. I am currently working on a gauge setup in the dash. It still needs some work and paint. I was fixing up my front air damn and in the process i decided to make my own. I took some garden plastic stuff I found at Home Depot and fitted it to my bumper. I might still paint the screws black. Let me know what you guys think.

if the exterior is going to hell because of rust, why put more money into the car unless you are going to fix the rust first

Use some of that lip to fill the gap under your headlights.

Lip hangs down to low for the rest of the car. Also car looks like it is trying to eat kids with the center cut out.

I think they front end looks good, alot more aggresive with the mesh cut away, the lip looks good that it makes the lower looking in the front; maby just mount it in a different fashion or cover the screws; overall your car looks good; get some skirts and fix the rust and she will be great...

god i just got done commenting how useless narrowband and volt gauges are in another thread. the cavalier emblem on the dash looks terrible. the single vent on the right looks out of place with the guages next to it. the gap under the hood looks bad. the lack of mesh on the bumper looks bad. the garden edging looks like garden edging with screws showing. the area where the deck goes looks empty. and last, but not least, the hvac knobs.....

the lip was a good idea just tighten it up paint it etc. not everyone has 300 just for a front bumper or lip kit. the dash looks decent too will be good once its painted. i would add some aftermarket polished mesh in the bumper too you can get it for like 15 bucks on ebay to fill that in a bit.

Instead of using screws use a bolt/nut to get a tighter fit. It looks loose, and will probably grab a kitten one day and throw it in the front mouth of your kit if you don't get some mesh.

yeah I gotta say, the "lip" looks horrible (jmo) someone else had a thread about the home depot lip and they used something else like garage door trim (or something like that) and it looked alot better..

the "lip" just looks like its bulging out and not really flowing with the bumper, the issue with the screw is also another thing, try using washers as well to help with that.

or he could put the bumper support back in. lol trimming it would be a better idea. lose the wanna be lip and buy one. being cheap is one thing and being cheap and poor execution of it is another. if your going to do something put some work into it so it doesn't look cheap or you look stupid for doing it. now if you would of put some time into your mods and made them not look so cheap then you would of got a better response. now please go back and fix your bumper right and try saving a little money for actual car parts. not trying to be a jerk.

enlighten me on how a voltmeter is useless when it helps you monitor how much draw your sound system has and can also help you determine if you need a new battery or alternator before you are driving down the road and the car dies?

seems like a good thing to have, especially since many cars these days have them built right in to the guage cluster??

To the OP

Guages look nice, smooth it out and paint it up.

Put grill in bumper cut out-Piant teeth on grill-your car now has a smile.

The put big eye balls on each headlight- your car now has eyes

Now where at the end and your car has a smile, a big honkin' cavalier smile

Wait... what?

Gauges look good, just need to finish up the dash.

If you really want to go with the "home depot" lip go with the garage weather strip like already said before. It looks a lot better than that garden one. Plus use some 3M double side to mount it cleanly to the underside of the bumper than tech screw it from the underside, not straight on like you have done with the garden trim.

If you still choose to do this...
