A different two tone
Wednesday, April 08, 2009 4:51 PM
A customer of ours just got his car back from paint. The new paint is a two toned, silver and black. He asked if we could do something with the mount he was buying to tie the engine bay in to his new theme. This is what we came up with. I'm personally very happy with the results. The silver is raw aluminium in the same finish as our normal mounts. The black is a high gloss black powder coating we use.

I might still swap the middle out for black, I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Close up showing the aluminium texture and how shiny the powder coating is.

Thanks .... I've actually been thinking of making the company slogan "We're kind slow but it's worth it"

Thanks for the complements guys. Unfortunately I think you're all right about the center one needing to be black.

I actually have a box of super secret ninja pieces that I made the other day. I still need to make some of the other bits, but it's moving along slowly but surely.

The cost of the powder coating depends on the color chosen. Different colors are harder then others to do and take more time/labour. Candy red (or any other transparent) for example looks best when done over a bead blasted finish, this adds and extra step to the finishing process.

The one in the picture is for an Ecotec, but we also have a 2.4 version. I've been thinking about doing a 2.2 OHV version but I'm not sure how much interest there would be as I'm not very familiar with those engines or the people that run them.

Having the center one black also look better in my opinion.

I need that!

I've added it as a finishing option on the website for both the ld9 and Eco mounts. I could also do it with any other color but we have a limited color selection on hand so I'd have to order the powder in depending on what someone might want.
