02 Sunfire GT

So I have been on JBO for about a year, registered for a bit less time,
but only really posted about it on GMSCF.com

Well here is the SLOW build thread for my 2002 Pontiac Sunfire Gt.

So here is the background on her. I bought the car from Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) salvage yard. The car has been keyed/knifed/vandalized all around the car and so it was listed as vandalized. The reserve price set for the car was $2500, So i decided to bid $3300, as I have watched how much cars in this good of condition have sold for before. I ended up having the highest bid with 3 other people being between 3200-3275. It is a fully loaded Five speed 2002 Sunfire Gt with the 2.2 Ecotec. Also it came with a fresh safety from them.

Pictures from the site before I bought it

So now fast forward a few months and after driving the neon as a winter beater

And here is the Sunfire

Not a whole lot done to the car as stands,
but more to come and alot in the works

I don't know why, but 03+ cavZ24/LS Sport rims look great on your car. Would look awesome with a CF hood/trunk combo and a black roof.

Thanks,
I am still debating what I want to do paint and body wise right now.
I was thinking of a CF hood with evil eyes, but haven't found one and dont want to spend a bunch on a new one

Well as I said I have had the car since back in January,
but was just driving the neon as a Beater.
This is now the summer car, and depending how things go, it may stay that way.
Just have the neon as a winter beater... if it lives.

I would love to do evil eyes, and thought about that even before I bought the car.
However I am still in debates about what I am going to do with the damage from being keyed etc
Once I figure that out then more exterior mods will be coming.
As for the drop,
I would also love to however right now I am in HS and the speed bumps are killer there,
so once I have graduated we will see what happens, but til then, its not even a possibility.
Also the car will be spending almost the whole summer with me at the lake, and the roads there are all gravel and pretty hilly,
so again a lowered car wouldnt be very good... We will see what the future holds I guess.

ANYWAYS,
tonight i am supposed to be picking up an AEM WAI that I found online locally.
So we will see how that goes.

I know alot of the pictures will seem repetitive, and they are...
I just took pictures from different heights etc

Anyways, washed the car today and changed something on the car....

Finally just said F it as I didn't want to pay 40 bucks for wiper blades( was going to get the really good Rain-x ones),
and got some cheapo ones

Nice dude! I'm usually not fan of yellow Sunfires, but I really like yours! Loved the pics. Loved this one enough to make you a quicky sig with it

So here are my APC Aftermarket mirrors
I got them a while ago for 10 bucks for the set, as the guy had no clue how to get the led's to work and took them off before selling the car.
Well there was a pretty big crack in the bottom of the passenger mirror, as well as typical fitment issues etc
So after numerous attempts with fiberglass to fill the big crack in the bottom of the mirrors, I decided to take a different route and go with JB Weld. Well because of all the gaps and overhanging etc, that the mirrors had, I decided to JB Weld all of the seams too eliminating the break away design.

So the passenger side is all smooth, and nearly ready for paint,
however I tested the led's. And about 4/10 overall were burned out.
So I needed to find something new. I found a set of amber leds and mocked them up in the mirror

So now I have the led's mocked up and just awaiting for me to finalize the design etc.
Then the mirrors will be painted black....

Next up was repairing the filler plate.

The dealership decided instead of using the factory mounting under the filler plate, they would mount a plate holder on the filler panel.
Well I immediately took the plate holder off but had holes in the plate forever, which was bothering me.
So again out came the JB Weld:p

I realize here ^^^ you can see some imperfections, but it was dry/wet sanded after this coat of yellow and came out much better.

Then with the final coat of yellow and clear, it was time to go on the car...

Good as new!
