And now she shines!!! <3 <3 <3

I finally got around to polishing my valve cover

I have owned my cav since Feb 05 and I'm just now getting this done. I always wanted to do it, but I never had the time since my Cav was my only car. Well recently I snagged up a used valve cover from a buddy here on the org and I finally got it done.

I followed the How To in the exterior forum, but I switched things up a bit at the end. When I made it up to 800 grit, I then used Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound to finish smoothing it out. After that I used Mothers Aluminum and Wheel Polish. I'm pleased with how she came out.

Here is my results. It took me over a week slow poking, but it was well worth it. She will look great in the bay ( I can't wait to install it. She so purrrrrty )

looks great but if you havent already to really should hit it with a polishing buffer. it makes a WORLD of difference.

i picked up a 'barrel' (round polishing tool) at my local harbor freight for like $2. it works amazingly well and after having polished multiple things over the years by hand i will NEVER go back to it. i will always use a buffer of some kind. the shine is just well... 10X better and it seems to stay that way longer.

I'm tired of wasting my time... now I'm breakin' free.

I do have my eye on polishing others things in the bay and I have to admit, polishing by hand is VERY tedious. I'll look into your tool at harbor freight and see whats up cuz damn... I think I have carpel tunnel

Are you implying you don't nee to sand by hand when you're polishing? That would be very nice. I do have an orbital buffer but I can't imagine it would be great for polishing the valve cover. I've just never used it for anything but waxing, I'm not sure if it's the same thing as what you're talking about. Can you fill me in?

Done...

Uninstalling the old cover and installing the new one WHOOPED my ass

Looks a ton better though. I'm happy

Now I can scratch this off my list and on to other things...... *ECU cough*

I also would like to polish the AC system and stuff but that will be tricky since it's pretty much non removable

Thanks man.

Oh and this morning I also re-polished my intake. It had some deep scratches from times I worked on the car.... You can see my reflection in the elbow LOL

Thanks. I want my fuel rail done too, but your gonna need a high powered dremel or something similar to knock down the roughness in order to get it the way you want.
