Just my luck ...
Sunday, September 20, 2009 11:47 AM
They're stripping and repaving a highway nearby, I'm going way slower than I normally would, but not slow enough I guess. Anyways after one of the expansion joints on an overpass someone left a 2inch high step of pavement that was at a full 90 degrees sticking up out of nowhere. Can't really do nothing to avoid it, so I hit it ... oh joy.

A good wheel shop should be able to fix that pretty easily and cheap

Have you contacted the highway department? They will usually help get this repaired as it was them that made the error on the pavement. Sucks hope you can get it fixed.

Eh I've already got two bent rims that I know about, the only shop in town that does it said about $100 a rim. So thats half the cost to buy new ones almost, think I may just buy new ones since they other two are in rough shape.

Man Peeves that's crappy. Sorry man.

yeah if it will cost them 1/2 or near of what it costs for a new, i'd do the same.

I would be at the Town hall that day. Reek some havoc man!

Hate it when they leave big lips like that...

That sucks, but I've had that happen before, even a little more bent than your's is, and I very carefully hammered the rim back with a rubber mallet. I didn't even take the rim off the tire. Now mine were billet, so yours may not be as forgiving, but it's a very slight bend. It doesn't look from the pictures like the rim is at all out of round, just that the lip is bent a bit. Obviously the bead still seals.

Hit the same bump again today. I've been looking into 18's, just not sure its wise to go with less rubber around here. Also not sure if they'll look good with my prokit.

Yes but they also shouldn't leave potentially damaging stuff during construction.

Yea it wouldn't take much to lay down a piece of steel and make a small ramp. They do it all the time around here...

Call the city and complain and make them pay for the damages

OK. the first time sucked, but the second time, you knew where it was.

A smart move would have been to slow down and turn your wheels while going over it, so that they didn't hit square.

Haha at least I think it was the same bump. It's on a section of the freeway at rush hour this morning, not a whole lot to do without causing an accident.

I was thinking about getting these or something similar as a replacement.
