Recently bought a newer j, upgrading from a 99 auto sunfire... got in an accident and settled with the insurance company and got some cash towards a newer car. Found this 05 sunfire base model 5spd with 110k km(approx 65k mi) for $3500 cad. My father has been a licensed auto mechanic and worked with GM for numerous years and he checked the car out for me, and was amazed at the shape it was in. The first owner was a young girl doing nursing and used the car for school, and she basically brought the car in for issue...from strut mount squeeks to wiper blades lol. All the work was documented because she had a 5 year total warranty and I have all the documents with the car. Anyways here are some pics of the day I bought it, sorry for the quality I only had my phone at the time.
I haven't done many things to the car yet, but I have some minor things that I want. But this is how it sits as of today..
I put a black mesh in the front cover to fill the wholes and prevent damage to the rad - cant really see in this pic ill get better ones.
Tinted the front banner and rear sides but didn't even attempt the rear window. Anyone who has tried it knows the pain involved
Color matched the handles and mirrors
Shorty antenna replaced the old 4 foot whip...
Keep all my gear from the previous car, and the stock stereo had to go. Pioneer deh3000mpu head unit
Kenwood 500w RMS bridged 2 channel amp w/ .5 F cap
Kenwood 6x9s and kenwood 4x6s replaced the stock speakers
My camera died taking the pics, but the box is nothing special, 2 1000w kenwood kfc-2511w 10" in a ported box wrapped in matching carpet.
Let me know what you think and any good mods you think should be next on my list, but in saying that I will have the rear window tinted and the big 3 is being done this weekend, and I have a short throw shifter on the way.
I am contemplating a pacesetter header and CAI but I can't justify $300 for an AEM intake for what 6-7 hp? But the exhaust system is on my mind, while im still searching for some used wheels.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I didn't expect as much good this fast ahah...and I know that is it not much, but it's a start.
The only reason for the cap is for the minimal line static - and I have the cap lying around why not use it right? I love the color of the car and the performance from a 2200ohv auto is not comparable to this 5spd eco ahah. I have a few things in mind for the summer as the funds become available, I'm currently in school doing an engineering technology program so most of my time and money is sunk into that.
As for the handles, No I did not remove them because they are riveted to the door panel. I simply proped them up with a block of wood and masked off the surrounding area, sanded with a medium grit to get a uniform surface, clean, prime, sand, clean, paint, clean, clear with drying time allotted within each step. The mirrors on the other hand, well I removed them because I only wanted the outer shell of the mirror painted with the base left black, I cracked the spring loaded mirror apart enough to slip the tape in to mask off the base from the shell and followed the same steps mentioned above.
This car is my daily driver and I don't plan on going all out but I will definitely be throwing some upgrades at it as time and money allows. Because of the poor road quality here, I doubt slamming the car will ever happen especially with low profile tires, it will just tear the front end apart.
and yes i'm a newfie, where are you at goldfire?

Looks good man. I'm working on painting my mirrors to match now. Haven't decided if I want to do the door handles or not, but seeing yours makes me want to do it as well.

Do the handles as well!!! Seriously, take a step back from your car and look how nasty they look that faded black plastic look... compared to the shiny body of your car. You will be pleased.
Oh and when you do the mirrors, remove the glass portion of the mirror, just crank the mirror all the way inwards and use a screwdiver and wrap it in a cloth and pry the mirror off from the outside lip( use the driver like a lever) It just snaps on/off and will easily line up and go back on - good info if you dont know this.

Yeah. I knew how to pop the mirror off already. Already got the mirrors primed, just gotta wait till next week so that I can paint and let them dry enough to clear coat.
you don't have to spend 300 on an aem, try

that's where i got my sri from and i must say i could'nt be happier. i did hear one complaint from another member about that intake though so who knows. it's either that or try ebay or build your own, but all the one's i found on ebay for the eco only go to the resonator which pretty much defeats the purpose.
car looks nice man, drop the steelies and find some wheels.
