Clean Engine Bay
Saturday, May 15, 2010 11:37 PM
So two days worth of work I swapped out my engine and transmission as well as completely shaving the contents of my engine bay.

This including, my ecu (shaved previously), coolant bottle, cruise, Airbox w/piping, battery tray, power steering, Washer jug, Fuse block, Battery, some wiring.

Anyone else accomplish this look yet?

I sprayed arrival blue base, shot it with gold and copper flake, then cleared it all. the color flop is quite nice in the light, I'll have to get some better pictures.

I guess I'm the only one who does not like that old school radiator cap on the hose, and the pics are crappy, so too hard to tell if it is a good job or not.

It looks awsome but im curious about the lack of a coolant resivior and that radiator cap setup. If im not mistaken the resivior needs to be the same height as the engine so where that cap is seems that there would be a large amount of air in the engine.

This is something I'm going to tackle this year and over the winter. I have a few ideas to hides somethings but where the hell are you guys putting most of this stuff? Any pics of where crap is hidden would be greatly appreciated. It seems like I've always seen people cleaning their bay out but never anything as to where or how the relocated things.

I know I can figure it out on my own one item at a time but if I could save time by knowing what can go where with factory length, or which need to be modified etc. that would be great and I can plan my jobs out accordingly. MORE DETAIL WANTED PLEASE.

battery in trunk, fuse box wires lengthened and ran under dash, ecu ran under dash, no a/c most other wires you just try and hide.

the Coolant overflow setup is actually working great, and the car runs at normal temperatures. However Ive had to replace my jug twice now because i don't run inner fenders and rocks tend to crack the plastic. Once i start working again, I`m going to invest in a aluminum overflow.

why not just put wheel well liners back in?

Thanks for the pictures. Looks to be pretty simple to swap it over to a overflow tank. Plan to go this over winter not so much for the clean look but so I can tub my wheel wells so I can roll extra low with no rubbing.
