Scumbag Thieves.
Saturday, July 30, 2011 6:58 PM
So if anyone caught my other thread about the Sunfire being painted this winter, I finally brought it home (to my mother's house) about a month or so ago. I put it there because it's a quiet neighborhood and she has a 4-car driveway and only (1) car since dad passed away in 2009. My own driveway at my house is brick and is only capable of holding (2) cars.

I really haven't had a lot of time lately to work on it, and this weekend I was finally going to put it all back together (bumpers, skirts, etc.) Anywho, I was over there on Friday to meet up with a buddy. While we were standing out front talking, I happened to look at the front end, which was parked about 3' from the garage. It took me a minute to realize...and comprehend...that some friggin' punk stole my intercooler and most of my passenger side charge piping:

Friday

I don't know exactly when it happened, but I know it was recent. I filed the police report just in case, but I obviously don't expect to see it again. Really pisses me off how some people can be such scumballs and feel the need to steal something that's worth so little.

Anyway...if anyone has a spare intercooler measuring 25-27" inlet to outlet and around 7-9" tall, let me know. 2.5" inlet/outlet, btw.

Thanks a lot, guys--and sorry about the venting; I'm just really frustrated with the whole damn situation.

Wow sucks. I have a intercooler, never used. 2.5 inlet and outlet (one on each side), 3.5 thick, and 30 long.

Here is a picture when I first got it.

Thanks for the good words, guys. Tinkles...I wish it WAS the whole car. Thinking seriously about scrapping the whole damn thing. I just don't have the time it takes to wrench on a car like this anymore.

Doesnt look like it was bolted to the crush bar(or was it?), that may have deterred them from taking it. But still sucks to see man. Sorry to hear.

There were (3) brackets--one on the bottom and two up top. They un-bolted the bottom, un-bolted one of the tops and ripped the other top one clean off the car.

This... I dunno how I would feel about leaving it without the bumper cover on, and the car outside...no matter what neighborhood.

Although I do feel bad for you, I know how you feel and its a damn @!#$ty feeling knowing someone would disrespect you like that... I had a lot of @!#$ stolen from me by an ex roommate of mine. He was also the one that keyed my car last year. Definitely the lowest of the low.

Even though its a low value item... I feel for ya and hope they catch the thieves who stole it.

Is tucking it away somewhere secure an option? If the car isn't costing you anything by just sitting there I don't see the point of getting rid of it. You and everyone else at RD Fabs have soooo much into it that it would be a shame to destroy it.

I know that feeling all too well. I lived in the hood for 3 years, and wouldn't you know it.. I moved into the hood again. When it's time to move the Pearl over here, I'm gonna be nervous as @!#$.. probably gonna sit in the dark watching my car.

I'm really sorry to hear see this, dude. It's completely @!#$ up that someone would walk right up to the house and start wrenching on your @!#$. I hope you get some form of compensation for it.

The09GXP: I called Geico tonite and the deductable still applies--it's higher than the cost of what was stolen

-Z Yaaaa-: I knew I was taking a chance with it out in the open, but unfortunately, my current house doesn't have a garage and my mom's kitchen was expanded into the garage before I was born. The thing is...I strongly feel it was the garage door repair guy that did this, so it has nothing to do with "advertising." I have pictures of the intercooler on the car on the 22nd of July, I noticed it gone on the 29th, and he was there working on the garage on the 26th.

Tinkles(now with Boost Face): I'm actually no longer really with RD Fabs. For many reasons, this was the best choice for me and I looooove having my weekends back to get work and everything else done. I have sooooo much into this car, no doubt. But in the long run, I don't have HPT or a readily-available tuner. I also can't really drive/park it most places because of the height. I'm still on the fence, but I'm leaning towards thinning down my car collection and picking up a classic car or newer Corvette as a play toy.
