Im still new at all this engine stuff, but what exactly do you do when you port and polish, and how much horsepower gain is expected?
not really sure myself, i think they make the holes in the engine where the exhaust gases come out the same as the ones in the header. or something to that effect.
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
reduces the restriction in the motors intake and exhaust in turn you can let more air into the engine. If you have more air, you can add more fuel. Add a bigger TB and a header after the head job and you'll have a good combo. Most of the stuff you take care of when you P&P is focused on reducing the crap that is in there from the factory. Steps.....bumps.....seams....shap edges around the valve seats and the ports. and all the other stuff that isn't what it should be.
It's a good thing to do....you can do it urself too...just don't screw it up

just the exhaust and intake not too hard. die grinder
yeah......exhaust and intake not tough at all...I did mine...now don't mess with valves unless you are totally sure what ur doing....That's when you take it to Mr. Machinist
its harder than some may think... its not just removing material... thats part of it...
an entire guide can be found here...

The company I'm getting my head ported and polished with guarantees 33hp to the wheels.
How much does it usually cost to get this done at a shop if you don't want to do it yourself?
After a p&p, do you have to do anything else so the motor doesn't mess up? Like change any parts or like. That?
Oh s***, he has two fire extinguishers in there!
