Think I broke something again....

Ok heres the scenario...02' Z24 with GM Charger, Autotrans Interceptor, 28k miles. The car was prolly at the 1/4 mark on the therm., so about half warmed up. I was merging and floored it, usually when it shifts from 1st to 2nd it sometimes double shifts (kinda like a double clutch w/ a manual). Today for some reason it got the first shift but immediately after switching into 2nd it lost power and began making a FARTING sound as it revved down in rpm's, kinda thought i blew it. I pulled over on the shoulder to check it out, no white smoke, no cracked block, restarted it back up a few min later and let it warm up. Sounds like i broke something, not sure on where to start checkin tho because no smoke, or anything apparent. Any advice/help appreciated!

Oh and btw it runs almost normal now, other than the sound of my engine and exhaust is much raspier. (deeper/inconsistant)

well heres a question. your title says broke something again. was there something else that happened and broke recently? also, desribe the "raspiness" you now hear, and how much different than it was?

maybe something electronic, take it to a shop and have them hook a computer up to it and see what it reads

Well by the title i meant i think i broke something again...lol Basically if something is out of the ordinary with how she runs i come saying i think i broke something.

Nothing was really broke, i had a bad smell coming from my exhaust so i thought i blew a head gasket which turned out negative.

My dad seems to think it has to do with the tranny leaking fluid and maybe being low on it. The flooding answer makes alot of sense being that it was redlined and just didnt shift then bogged out but when i restarted it it seemed fine.

Heres another question, whats a good place to take a hooked up car to get good matinenance. Everytime i run it up to the GM dealer they give me @!#$ about everything i have done to it and answer little to none of my questions. I dont mind spending a little bit of money as long as i can get some quality service.

most of the "local garages" have snap-on scan tools, these can look at all of the sensors on your car to see if anything is out of spec. this is a good place to start. i didnt read your profile but what do you have for an exhast system? maybe the cat or the inside of the muffler burned out causeing it to be more raspy? i also have a 2002z w/ the supercharger kit, so i know how paranoid i get when something seems out of wack.. good luck Patrick

The messed up exhaust makes sense if you got a weird smell from it. You may have fried something in the exhaust that burnt out, made a weird smell that went away with time and left your sound different then when you started. By the way, you probably know this now, but it's a good idea to let the car warm up before you beat it around. It's like rolling out of bed and getting in a fight before you've had a chance to drink your coffee.

here's an idea...... did your Trac-Off light come on? i know with my shiftplus even without an S/C if im redlined going into 2nd, i'll chirp the tires on dry pavement, which causes low traction, and if its wet out at all, will spin the tires badly, causing the trac-off light to come on, and the ecm to cut fuel the the engine, which makes a farting noise to me. this is a function of the ETS, and if this is what happened, its normal, and dont worry about it, no damage done.
