I have pool of water in my floor board
Friday, February 25, 2005 9:37 AM
Hello , and good day to all j-body members. I have a 1988 Sunbird which seems to have a leak, every times it rains I have a pool of water on the drivers side floor board. The water is coming from behind the dash board, when I did a further inspection its coming from the top of the fire wall compartment where the drain for water and rain is located under the wiper arms. The is also a plastic housing cover for the blower motor door, the seal seems to be detoriated and I assume thats where the water is coming from because I can see light inside the car.

if you can see exactly where the seal is bad and water is leaking in, you can probably get some silicone sealer and patch that up.

^^^ erm kinda doubt that unless he has antifreeze on the floor. I've had this problem (water leakeage) and I've also lost a heater core in my 1st/ 2nd gens. The water can come in from different places, windshield, top of your door, through your door if its rusted out. Just look around and find the leak and silicone it or get new weatherstripping. As for your heater core if it goes you won't have any heat and you'll lose coolant. Plus your leaking "water" will be green and smell pretty lol. When mine blew it spilled out onto the pavement but I guess its possible it could leak into the cabin.

some of the older grand am's had a known leak on the drivers side lower windshield, the seal on the rubber goes after a while.
