resonator question???
Tuesday, March 08, 2005 7:44 AM
Hey, I have more or less a stock exhaust system, I just have a straight through design street racing muffler. My cars loud a h*ll but thats fine, I always hear of you guys mentioning resonators though. What is a resonator? What does it do? And why does length and filling material make a difference adn what kinda of difference does it make? Thank you.

Resonators just act as a premuffler really. If you car is too loud then a resonator would help to quiet it down. As far as i know length and filling material just alter how much noise it reduces.

So then is it possible to use a resonator to also make your exhaust sound lower? What types of packing material will give you what sounds, I'm guess the length of the resonator only effects the volume of your exhaust right, so the longer the resonator the quiter right? Or am I completely wrong? Thanx
