nasty backfire question
Thursday, March 10, 2005 8:27 AM
i have a 2000 2200 3spd my question is I have a backfire or a popping in my exhaust upon deceleration that I find annoying. I was just wondering if it is just a lack of back pressure. I live in a very small town with few "authorities" so I have a straight through exhaust, full 4-2-1 headers and a high flow cat. do you think a high flow muffler would maybe solve this problem?

Actually that popping noise is pretty normal in most aftermarket exhausts.

A resonator might help you out.

throw a dynomax super turbo muffler on it. you will still get good performance and not as loud or back fires. i just did it to mine cause i have the 2.2 4 speed and it was popping. i threw a dynomax muffler on it and it stopped. they are wicked cheap too. like 30 dollars shipped on ebay. the resonator will help too.

I just got my blitz body kit and I'm not real fond of the rear bumper but I want to split the exhaust so I have an outlet on each side but I dont like the look of "fart cans" so is the dynomax a under the car type muffler?
