Power door and window conversion
Sunday, March 20, 2005 7:14 PM
Hey everybody. I'm wanting to convert my windows and locks in my 96 cav coupe from manual to power. Is there a way that I can do this or do I just have to replace the doors all together? I'd appreciate any help.

Spal makes kits to do this. I have the Spal power lock kit hooked into my boa remote starter but i dont want the window kit. Autoloc is ok but i would go with spal IMO.

i have the autoloc remote power locks and the power window kit. the kits were very easy to install and i have been very happy with both the performance and the quality of the kits. if you are looking into getting the autoloc stuff, i would recommend contacting jason at aplusperformance. he's got great prices as well as excellent customer service

get 2 doors that have power windows and doors, swap the guts of the units (the windows are the same), then return the doors to the junk yard, oh and keep the power door panels .. this way you don't have holes.

The doors are the same for manual and power windows and locks, no need to paint other doors just to swap out some internal stuff. All the wiring is also in the car already for thsi stuff. Plus don't forget to crap the center console window switch.

Hit 200 NA it broke once, Hit 213 it broke again,
Hitting 300 NA is further away than I thought.

I have the spal power window kit. I cut my center console and molded in the switches to it. They work excellent.

Beat it like it owes you money

I got the AlphaGuard power door lock kit from A Plus Performance and it works great. I also got a security system so I could have a remote with them. Install was relatively easy once you get your interior door panels off.

As for power windows, I personnaly don't know of any kits, but my friend put power windows in his... He just went to a surplus store and bought some 12v motors, and jimmy-rigged em in the door and ran wires. Cost him about $20 to do the whole window project.

a lot of people do it that way because it is easier. those parts are made for the car and fit nicely. aftermarket power window kits require a little bit of fabbing and some creativity to get everything to fit behind the door panel.
